One thing I've noticed is that the sand I use to use is no longer around it was a white aragonite sand sold at HD everyone used looked great and was really from ocean very high in calcium... so whats the good cheap replacement around now days?? subsea
There is no cheap replacement. The sand which you mentioned was used as a playground sand which was arrogonite not silicate. Since I rely on alkalinity buffering from arrogonite in my Jaubert DSB, I use CaribSea products. Patrick

prof
I have a sugar fine sand that is 100% calcium, not silicate. It is very similar to the old playsand we all used to buy and covet. $1 per lb. if you are interested.

Aaarrrggg
Caribsea Pink Fiji! It's a nice white sand. Won't be as cheap as you found in HomeDepot, but at least you only have to buy sand once.
