Why is my timing so poor?

I was looking for a skimmer, and this brand was one of the top choices I was considering. Unfortunately, I bought one yesterday evening.

Bah! I could have saved a few bucks. That's a good price.

Well, I may be back in the market for this item. The skimmer I purchased came in today and is too tall for my tank. I have a 33 long so it is 12" high and the skimmer sits about 6" above that.

What are the dimensions on this skimmer? (So I don't make the same error two times in one week.)

And hopefully, the vendor will take the return of the one I bought. I was concerned with width height etc but never thought to worry about how high up the HOB clip was.

the over all hight to to the top of the cap on the cup is 19 1/2" it is 6"wide 2 3/4"deep

from under the lip to the bottom is12 1/4"

It fit on the left side chamber on my jbj nanocube28 if that helps ;). My phone is not being nice or I would send a pic now I have to find my digital camera and hope the batteries are not dead lol

So, the distance from the HOB fixture to the top is about 7 1/4"? How many inches above are required to remove the cap on the cup? I'm thinking this may work for me.

its about7 5/16" from the bottom of the lip to the top of the cap on the skimmer cup I placed a pc of wood about 2 1/4" over the top of the skimmer and you can tilt it out. I would say 2 1/2" over it to be safe i was just holding the board and tilting it out.
