dshel1217
Hey all, I have had a lot of different kind of algae in my tank since I started this hobby last year. But this one I have never seen. Any help ID’ing this and help getting rid of it. Thanks
mFrame
I was guessing a green diatom, and found this link. It might help http://www.skepticalaquarist.com/diatoms I also stumbled across several saying that cyano can be green. Have you tried getting rid of it, and if so, how quickly does it come back? dshel1217
its a fast grower. I noticed it about a week ago and since then I have done a water change, trying to get as much out as possible. It reminded me of a cyano at first but it seems thicker. Timfish
Yeah it could be a diatom or cyno. Cynobacteria can come in every color, Sprung's book "Algae" has some good pictures. I don't know if you've tried Boyd's chemiclean but works well for cyno if it starts getting worse it may be worth trying (don't use it to often).
