Toxiq Reef Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Would running only a single bulb from a dual light ballast harm anything? Quote
mFrame Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I don't believe it would. The ones I've seen power each ballast separately so that you can have each turned ON on a different schedule. Quote

Timfish Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Are we talking MH or florescent, I'm not familiar with Galaxy ballasts. Every florescent ballast I'm familiar with that runs two bulbs doesn't have a problem running one. Every MH dual ballast I've messed with has seperate cords and switches so if the one you have has only a single power cord my guess is it won't hurt the ballast that doesn't have a bulb but it probably will still use more electricity than a single ballast would. +Hydro Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 It won't hurt anything and it won't use much more power than running one since there is no load on the second ballast. BTW galaxy ballasts are made by sunlight supply, good ballast from a good company. Quote
Toxiq Reef Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 It's the ballast I bought from you when you started the big tank Quote
+Hydro Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Oh ya I forgot! It will be fine, I wouldn't worry about it. Quote
