texasean
I bought a 40 breeder this weekend from the PetCo dollar per gallon sale and immediately brought it to Shane at Fishy Business to have drilled. He did a great job drilling it and installing bulkheads and had it completed within a day. I brought it home and as I was carrying it upstairs in my house I bumped it against the wall and heard a loud crack. UhOh! The tank wasn't even inside my house for more than a minute and it is cracked completely through the glass and essentially worthless. No one to blame except myself... I guess a real build thread is off in the future...
Michae52
Very Sorry to hear that. I was over at Shane's buying some live rock this afternoon and I saw your tank. Looked like a very good job.

Juiceman
Man, I hit my 90's bulkhead bringing it in the house too, luckly I only broke the bulkhead and not the glass. Just now when he drilled my 200g, I told him to leave the elbows from the bulkheads off until I got it in the house for that exact reason. Good luck man! prof
I always leave the bulkheads off the tank for just this reason. I have cracked tanks before. It sucks. Glass is extremely strong and fragile at the same time. Be careful not to drop anything on a bulkhead after the tank is installed. One wayward item dropped behind the tank can cause the same damage. I like to use hayward bulkheads when possible. They are larger and made of a different material that is more durable than the black plastic bulkheads. Because of the greater clamping area they are easier to tighten securely and are less prone to sideways movement that can cause a crack.
