+Hydro
Bored at work, thought I would post some pics Got this eel a couple months ago and recently moved it in to the DT tank. I would consider this eel to be reef safe, its supposed to eat crustys only and should not go after fish...but so far it hasn't done either. It lives in the same cave as my purple lobster and the skunk cleaner shrimp will try and take food from the eels mouth. Its amazing how blind they are AND how bad their sense of smell is. I feed her with tongs, mostly shrimp soaked in zoe, and unless you bump her in the face with it she can't find it. As soon as the shrimp goes in the tank she comes out, but has a hard time finding exactly where it is. She showed up this way, same as my dwarf eels.....not sure how these guys survive in the wild. Going to do a video soon
nuxx
Cool Eel, should be happy in the 440 I bought a Skeletor Moray from DD after searching for one for months, really cool little guy. Also reef safe so far... he's around 9" now and hasn't touched a fish, crab or shrimp. I've seen a skunk and fire shirmp messing with his mouth and he just takes it. Also has rounded teeth like a snowflake/zebra/chainlink... He's blind as a bat, so he has nipped at a trigger while trying to get some food off of a feeding stick, but the trigger has also taken a jab at him. I have to have my wife distract the trigger with a small piece of food now while I feed the Eel in a different part of the tank. Thinking of when I get the 240 up and running that I'll add a Golden Dwarf Moray as well. As much as I love the aggressive eels, I'd rather have a variety of fish in the tank with corals than just having a Dragon Moray with an aggressive trigger for example instead... Richard L
Sweet eel! Do either of you guys have lids on your tanks?
+Hydro
Right now I just have the plastic grates but am going today to pick up my glass covers. Honestly I don't think that I need them for the eel but would rather be safe than sorry. Plus I have a few fish that are known to be jumpers. I have a couple of dwarf eels but I'm not going to put them in the DT, I'm afraid of losing them. If they decide to live somewhere where i can't see them they may not eat enough to survive. Plus I want to be able to see them. That's why I'm selling at least one of them and putting the other in my QT system.

nuxx
Sweet eel! Do either of you guys have lids on your tanks? Yeah pretty much completely covered. The eel is happy and never seems to leave his few caves. I've never seen him completely off the substate. I'd be more worried about the trigger. I've seen him jump straight up from a 1/3rd full Home Depot bucket to about 8" over the rim of the bucket when moving tanks. I have a couple of dwarf eels but I'm not going to put them in the DT, I'm afraid of losing them. If they decide to live somewhere where i can't see them they may not eat enough to survive. +Hydro
got glass panels today, should have went with 3/8" instead of 1/2"....these are heavy! Also I'm sending them back to get 1.5" holes drilled in each for handles because I can't get them off very easliy. I need to get some edging to go around the panels to keep them from chipping. No way is the eel escaping now, I can't even get the covers off.
