beer
Hey folks, I noticed a lack of current in my tank this afternoon. When I started investigating, I discovered that the impeller of my Koralia 1400 is rotating in the wrong direction, inefficiently sending water out the sides and back of the pump. Has anyone heard of this before? I didn't exactly see a directional switch on the back and this is the first time I've ever had to open the thing up, so it's not like I put it back together incorrectly in a previous tank cleaning. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Mike
Ben
Have you tried unplugging the pump and flipping the plug around? Somtimes it is a polarity issue.
beer
Unfortunately, yeah. Tried flipping the plug, using a different outlet...etc. Thanks though.
+KimP
Mine does that all the time. I just unplug and plug back right back in and repeat until it's going the right way. I only plug mine in one way, so it's not a polarity thing in my experience.
Robb in Austin
Did you give it a manual push the right direction; with the power off of course? When I had mine they would do it from time to time, but a simple unplug would usually fix it.
stoneroller
Ditto.
beer
Thanks for the info everybody. Apparently my little Koralia hasn't gotten the memo yet. I manually spun the impeller in right direction, and unplugged/re-plugged about 30 times. I guess it just REALLY likes going in the wrong direction! Anyway, I'll keep trying and hopefully something will give.
+dapettit
Have you modded it in anyway?
sfarris002
Contact the Hydor and they will send you a new parts to fix it. I had the same problems and it caused by a slipped bushing.
Jurgy
Take a look at the cover around the impeller. On the inside there is a little nipple I would call that sticks out right in the center. Yours might be broken off and That's what is causing this problem. It happened to me recently and I replaced the cover with one that wasn't broken and had no issues.
