trozacky
I got my tank yesterday and set it up last night. It has about 120 lbs of LR and 40 lbs live sand. The sand came in a bag of water. Half the LR has been dry for about a month and the other half was in a tank for about a year but they didnt have UV lighting. Should I get some nice LR to populate the other LR or with it be OK with the sand and LR I have? How long will it take to clear up the water? Does the aquascaping look OK? They is a small about of green alge on some of the bottom rock whats the best thing to stop it from growing? Thanks Travis

wa1tx
Is it hair algae or just a green coating? The water should be clear in a couple hours at most. IMO, if you have some live rock in the tank, it should seed the rest.
trozacky
It looks like little half inch long hairs.
wa1tx
What I do is toothbrush it off the rock and do a couple 20% water changes over a week. Not sure if that is the correct way but it works for me.
nemirn
Make sure the live rock isn't sitting on the sand. If necessary, take out the sand and dump it on top of the live rock. The base of the live rock should be resting on the glass on the bottom of the tank.
