dshel1217
I have had an ocellaris clown fish for about a month or so and before that a purple fire fish. The two get along great. But I purchased a wrasse about a week ago and I have noticed the clown chasing the wrasse (who is slightly smaller) and some nibbled fins on the wrasse. I don’t want to get rid of the clown fish but if he is going to get more aggressive toward the other two, I don’t see much of an option. I also change my live rock around a few days ago to get better flow. Any advise?
Robb in Austin
Give it some time. Clowns are fairly aggressive, as you see. Mine harass new fish for a while then they settle down.
Teresa
I agree with Robb. Clowns usually have a territory they like to protect and will bite other fish if they get too close. Moving the rock around was a good idea so everyone in the tank has to reestablish their territory. If your tank provides the space, and you don't already have one, you might get a bubble anemone the clown can host. Mine never travel more than a few inches from their anemone and other fish have learned to stay away.
