looks like a worm to me, but it doesn't have a cocoon. It has many many long tentacles that come out from under the sand. Anyone know what this is and if it's safe?

unless there are many forms of bristle worms this is definitely not one. The thin strips you see coming off perpendicular to the main body (and one long one parallel to it) are tentacles it's unfurling. I've never seen a bristle worm with dozens of 1 - 3" tentacles.

sorry i have to use the camera on my phone :( These pics show the tentacles stretched out in all directions - and they are all along the body, not just the top like it looks in the pics

yup that's it!! THANKS!

I removed it from my aquarium already - should I put it back or kill it? I thought it looked cool but I have no idea if it's ok for the aquarium
