+Hydro Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 This is a dominant male (actually female that turned male) and should be placed only with much smaller females or there will be fighting. This isn't hard because they usually are much smaller when you buy them, I have never seen one this big anywhere else. This male could be left by itself but I'm not sure that is the best thing for it, they typically school. The good thing about this fish is that it eats anything so if paired with some smaller females they will learn to eat flakes and NLS pellets because monkey see monkey do. The anthias is 4.5" long and has the streamers on its tail, very fat, and very healthy. You can't see it in the picture but there is a bright purple ring around its eyes thats pretty cool. I'm feeding my anthias twice a day, mostly flakes. I've had this fish for over a year. The reason that this fish is valuable is beacuse anthias are typically hard to keep and are usually very skittish when they are just placed in a tank so they hide until they starve to death. Having this large male will give you a better success rate of keeping more anthias. Smaller anthias will school with the male almost immediately and get comfortable enough to eat. $50 or best offer Quote
+mcallahan Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I wonder if it would put my chromis in his place. Quote
+Hydro Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 I think so, pecking order was tangs....male lyretail....and then about 20 other fish Quote
Jessie Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 These are real cool fish. I have a med male about 3 inches and he's great with his other tank mates. They love to swim against the current also. I wish I could take this one from you cause he's much more colorful than mine. Quote
+Hydro Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 I have a huge black tang that is more rare and way more expensive than the anthias and when people see my tank they always ask about and notice the anthias lol I know have a school (5) dispar anthias, they are really colorful too and they school real clost together...al 5 within 4-5" of each other almost all the time.
