jestep Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 I inadvertantly disconnected my refuge cooling fan while cleaning last week and ended up heating my tank up to about 86 for 3 days. A large monti cap, an undata, and a birdsnest started to bleach. All still have polyps and there is no RTN. Is there a chance they will recover or anything I can do to help them. Temp is back down and stable. Quote
Timfish Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 It's hard to say but if they are still polyping out after several days of the temp being normal I'd be very cautiously optimistic. I've had stoney and soft corals recover from heat stress but it may take a month or two for the colors to start to recover. Basically they have to regrow the zooanthellea. Don't change anything you were doing from before the incident, disturb them as little as possible. If not killed outright I have had colonies develop brighter colors but more often I've had colonies appear to survive only to gradually decline over a period of months. Good Luck! Quote
