Solaria Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Anybody know anything about this stuff? It's pricey but I'm at my wit's end with the green hair algae. Tried more snails but that didn't seem to do much. Anybody know where I can get this locally? or want to split a bottle with me if I do decide to order it? I have a 12G nano so I don't think I'd need much. Thanks. Quote
dsquared Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Fishy Business on Burnet Rd has it. 284-8090. Quote
+Hydro Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 It works for me everytime. I bought a gallon because recently I had a GHA outbreak...still can't explain why. The gallon is three doses for my tank, I used it once and didn't need it again. After 2 weeks the GHA was gone completely. I would sell you some of this but I'm out in Bastrop, prolly not worth the drive for you. Quote
+dapettit Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I think I'll need to pick some up this week. Quote
+mcallahan Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I meant to tell you as well you can have my bottles if you want them. Quote
+dapettit Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Mark, I'll take it if Solaria doesn't. . . Dave- Quote
Solaria Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 Thank you Mark for offering your bottles to me -- yes I would like to have them. At this point I'm ready to try anything! Water parameters are perfect -- nitrates/nitrites/ammonia/phosphates are all zero.......would you please email me when you get a chance to arrange for pickup? Quote
+dapettit Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Rats looks like I'll be amking arun to Fishy Pets this week. Good Luck Solaria keep us posted of your progress! Dave- Quote
Stacy Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I'm in the same boat. Parameters are great, but the algae is going nuts. I need more snails for sure! Quote
+etannert Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 This is anecdotal at best, but I raised my magnesium to 1550 to combat a bryopsis outbreak, and it seemed to have killed off most of my GHA as well. I also added some Mexican turbos to kill off my maroon turf algae at the same time so it could have been either, but I didn't reduce my bioload or feeding and the problem still subsided. Quote
+dapettit Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I have my magnesium at 2200 for a couple of months and the stuff keeps growing! Quote
+Eckreef Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I also was combating what I thought was GHA for several months. Tried Marine SAT, extra snails, 3 days of darkness, extra water changes etc.. without improvement. Water parameters perfect, use RO/DI with 0 TDS. Asked Mark about it and he recommended raising Mg in case it was Bryopsis. Slowly raised Mg to 1700 over 10 days and within a week of the Mg hitting 1700 I had a pristine tank again. The difference was unbelieveable! Just my experience.... Quote
offroadodge Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Nutrient Export is key in battling HA. Figure out whats feeding the algae and your problem will be solved. There are TONS of variables that can cause it to grow. (food, top off water, water change water, lighting, over stocked tank, etc) Quote
