+KimP
I've always used api kits pretty much by default. I'm just about out and figured I'd ask before heading to the store. Wish there was a hanna checker for nitrates Thanks!
Eric Alvarado
I am using API, and then picked up salifert for calcium, alk, phos, mag. Next to the salifert tests, the API tests are 10 times harder to read. So, guess I am saying I really like the salifert tests I have. Shane has them at fishy business for a pretty good price, like $15-20.
Michael Rodriguez
I used to work in an aquarium shop where we would test all of our customers tanks with different test kits so we could get a feel for them. My favorite was the red sea. It has a decent resolution and cuts you no slack. It will give you higher readings than other test kits but I am partial to that. DustinB
I have been using the salifert for a while now, I was using API for a while. While API is fairly accurate, it didn't have the low range accuracy or the resolution I needed when I started vodka/vinegar dosing. The salifert let me see exactly when my nitrates started slowly coming down so I didn't end up causing a bacterial bloom. Plus at a certain point, roughly .5 - 1.5ppm, API will not pick up anything. +KimP
Thanks for the leads on other kits. I was hoping there was something out there at least a little easier to read than the API one. I'll be trying out one of the others
