wizardx322
ok so i am about to order some heart worm preventative for my dog so i think i am going to pick up some interceptor while i am at it to keep some on hand in case of a red bug break out. my dog is only 11lbs so the dosage goes 2-10 pounds is 2.3mg 11-25 pounds is 5.75mg 26-50 pounds is 11.5mg 51-100 pounds is 23mg would that 5.75mg tab be enough for my tank? or which one do i get? and is it possible to get this stuff in town? or i have to order online? and does it matter if it is flavored? +dapettit
Sorry I didn't see your tank size, still don't. If your vet carries it you can get it from them (may have to explain why. . .). You will need a prescription to by on-line. And it always comes flavored (for the dogs) i believe. I use the above size for my 150. I cut the tab in half grind it down to fine poweder mix it with RO/DI and use a drip line to slowly add it to my tank This allows me to do 2 treatments. don duncan
You will have to order it online. No vet that is not your vet will give it out, even with a script.

+dapettit
I had red bugs last year. I did a very exhaustive search. Here is last part entry of my blog concerning the use of Interceptor: Red Bugs! And here are a couple of links. I based my treatment on this: The Cure for Red Bugs As you can see it's dated. However it explains the science behind using Interceptor. Then a fellow reefer turned me on to this article by Eric Borneman Suggested Treatment Protocol Of course the research is 7 years old but no one else has come up with a "cure" other than Interceptor. If you are getting Interceptor" just in case" it sells for about $50 a pkg. There are plenty of your fellow reefers here who will gladly supply you with the "cure", some for a small fee. So unless you need it I would suggest not getting any. The best defense against them is is to visually examine the tank you getting your purchase from. Look for little spots around the coral. you may have to stare at them. It's like a now you see them now you don't kind of thing. Always dip your corals. There are many brands out there. I use the CoralRX, Lugol's solution and Tropic Marin Pro-Coral Cure. All these are available locally except the CoralRX (I think). Also regularly check you corals. All this may sound a little overboard but, trust me you don't want to deal with red bugs! Dave-
wizardx322
so can u dip coral multiple times before putting it in the tank? like expample: dip coral rx, then lugol then tank. or like revive, rx , lugol then put in tank?
+dapettit
Yes. You will want to dip them saltwater between each dip. At least that's how I do it. Dave-
