ballast repair - worth trying?

I have a no longer made CurrentUSA ballast die today. Should I attempt repairs at a place like Mr. Wizard or suck it up and get a new light kit? advice, please.

I would go for the new light but I really dont know anything about repairing a ballast I just always use equipment failures as a reason to upgrade.

You could open it up and see if theres anything obviously wrong, like a blown resistor or capacitor, theyre easily replaced. Might check the obvious first like a bad fuse. Sometimes they can be easy to repair, other times not so much. Might be worth the time to open it up though if youre comfortable with that. I found this, it might help.
