+mcallahan
I got word that Kingfish Aquariums here in town was lining up a Zeovit purchase (thanks reefman) and I talked to Brian today and they are willing to do a group buy for us! Here are the details: - This group buy will be for Zeovit supplements. - Order will close Friday, April 9th @12p. - Payment can be made over the phone to Kingfish directly (512.371.3366). As with any group buy, if you haven't paid by the cutoff time, you're not in on the order. - Kingfish will be coming to the April meeting to deliver our orders. NOTE: Since Zeovit comes from Canada, there is a slight chance that the order could be delayed in customs. If the order doesn't get here in time for the meeting, then pickup will be @ Kingfish the following week. - Kingfish will be posting a list of prices in this thread and you can say what you want for potential better than advertised pricing. Never heard of Zeovit? Check out their forums where you can learn more and see the beautiful tanks that are run on their system.

reefman
Mark, Stay away from the Spur2. Long story (and not a good one) I'll tell you about some time. the rest of the ZeoVit stuff I'm very happy with. Maybe Clint will get in on it too. +mcallahan
You dose too much too fast?
don duncan
so what was the problem with the spur2? I would like to know as I am thinking of trying it so any advice would be welcomed. You can count me in on the order.
reefman
I dosed 1/2 the recommended amount. We have never been able to pin point it was the cause, but the hypothesis is that it could possibly have caused my tank not to complete its cycle. There are other people who have supposedly had tank crashes from it as well. Stick with the Pohl's Xtra for color. I'm very happy with it. The Spur2 has been the only Zeovit product I MAY have had issues with. Stephen
Brooks
I'd like to see how much the Pohl's Xtra cost. Might be interested

fishypets
I love me some Spur2, it's my favorite additive. Having said that it can cause major issues in a tank, I just consider myself lucky so far. Hence my nickname in 2nd grade "lucky"
+dapettit
Ok I was interested in the Spur2 but not so sure now. It seems you have to be "lucky" to us it. Also I noticed folks using Pohl's Xtra. I know this is a group order but I would like to make an educated decision. Why is do you need to be "lucky" to use Spur2? What is the difference between the two products? I ain't so lucky! Kingfish
Greetings all. I will be working on a price list later this evening once we are done with our maintenance route. The list will include available zeovit supplements & sizes, MAP prices and the group buy discount. I will also include the discount prices for the new Vertex Alpha skimmer line as part of this group buy, should anyone be interested. http://www.vertexaquaristik.com/products/proteinSkimmers/internalSkimmers/alphaSeries/alpha170.php Thanks Brian
fishypets
First off most of the ZEOvit products can be without the "Full ZEO system" However some of the products work best with the ZEOvit or at least a ULNS. Spur2 is a product that causes the sps to shed zooxanthellae. If paramaters are not correct this product could strip sps of their tissue. Even some of the most seasoned ZEOheads stay clear of this product.

fishypets
Hmmm...what should the parameters be? Sounds like an interesting product, even with the risks. NSW paramaters, which I'm sure you're at if you run Probido KH 6.5-8 CA 380-420 MG 1200-1300 SG 1.024-1.

My Mg runs a bit lower - 1125 so I'll just add some more time to my dosing pumps and bump up that #
fishypets
Thanks Clint, Is the Pohl's Xtra a better alternative? They are two totally different products. But Pohls Xtra is a great product, especially at bringing out the blue hues. You should also look at getting B-Balance as this product helps with red and pink hues. If I wasn't running a full "ZEO" tank here is what I would go with. These products help SPS and LPS will not be affected IME. Pohls Xtra (helps with blue hues) B-Balance (for reds and pinks) Coral Vitalizer (Fantastic sps food) Sponge Power- I didn't have sponges until I started using this product, it really works! And it helps bring out purple hues Iron- I love this product too. It really brings out the greens and yellows and adds a nice shimmer to these colors. PIF (Helps with blues and purples) Another additive I believe everyone should be dosing is Potassium. Although the ZEOvit Potassium is expensive and doesn't go far with me I've found a product made by Warner Marine that is fairly cheap and works pretty good. Tanks lacking K typically show faded blues and purples.
+dapettit
Thanks again Clint. I think I'll give these a try. Count me in!
