Will
Does anyone know this, or what is considered high? I started my tank with tap water (my present diatom bloom is making me wish i did otherwise).

Will
Lol my bad, do you know if that is considered high
Zarathustra2
Its pretty good for a muni water supply. Not that great for a reef tank. I'd be doing some serious water changes with RO.
Will
Yea the Cooper levels looked high as well, looks Like I will be going to Dallas to get my old ro unit, do u think the resin( did not use very much) will have gone bad after 3 years without use? Zarathustra2
I'm not sure about DI resin but I would say most likely. I know that RO membranes will go bad if they ever dry out.
+mcallahan
I started my tank with Austin tap and after the initial diatom bloom (which is normal for any new reef tank), everything is fine. Take Z's advice and do water changes from now on with RO/DI and I'd replace your DI resin as well. PS, I'm going to pickup a couple of items from BRS (they have DI resin) this week due to the sale that is ending so you can piggy back with me if you want. Will
Thanks but I'm going to have to hold off for now (budget), I will switch to ro tho
Zarathustra2
It should be fine. Calfo actually reccomends a 50% weekly DI water change. Thinks RO is just far too wasteful. DI gets you 98% of the way there, especially with a sediment and a carbon filter in line first.
Will
I wish i could just fill up at school, they have ro/di plumbed through the entire chem building.
