1. My SW->FW conversion has been going well, except that my pH is doing crazy things. The drop several days ago was when I finished cleaning out my GFO/GAC RX and got it re-started with some GAC in it. Even though I pumped 3g of RODI through it, apparently there was still some vinegar making the pH drop. I would've been happier had it stayed there as my target is 6.5 pH. You can see how buffered my pH is as it climbed right back up. I think there is still a lot of calcium plating and buildup throughout the system, such as in the overflow and return lines. As the pH goes down, the calci
2. I have 55 gallon all male cichild tank with haps and peacocks. About a month or so ago i started getting a nasty film of black algae on the rocks. It spread everywhere. I scraped and scraped and finally gave up. I put about half of my limestone holyrock in a 10 gallon bucket full of water with about a cup of bleach and let it soak for about 12 hours. Every thing looks good as new. My question is do I need to soak it in dechlorinator or can I let it sit out in the sun for a few days? Plan is to put the clean half of rock back in and do the other half so the boys have some place to hide unti
3. So just wanted to give a quick update with a video of my 150g tank, the thread when I started it is here. http://www.austinreefclub.com/topic/21580-new-freshwater-build/
4. Have a 75g rimless tank that I've had sitting around for awhile. The previous owner used it as a saltwater tank. I had planned on using it for that as well, but I decided not to waste the $ on another saltwater tank that I'm just going to want to upgrade. I've been looking at 200+ gals for the purpose of having a sting ray. So I was wondering if I could still use this as a freshwater tank, since it was previously used as a saltwater tank. I wanted to use the eshops sump that I have and some really nice skimmer that I can't remember the name at the moment. The bag/sponges on the filter ar
5. On behalf of Fish Gallery this weekend I redid the aquarium at Rio Rita over on E. 6th. The tank is completely enclosed in a wall so no room for external filters. 55gal standard. Goldfish right now. The filtration was lacking and the deco was also. I had my friend is who a videogame artist from (http://amandawilliamsart.com) design the tank. I wanted to see what a non-fish person would do when challenged with aquascaping. I think the results are very cool. We are calling it Fish Henge and 2001: A Fish Odyssey.
