  1. I've been trying to contact someone at Austin Aqua Farms since early Saturday evening. I filled out their email form on their site, called and left a voicemail on Tues, sent them a PM yesterday, and called again today and hung up when I got the voicemail.

For anyone who's dealt with them, does it normally take a few days to get a response? Are they typically hard to get on the phone like this? I'm starting to wonder if anybody's home, so to speak. It's pretty discouraging.

Just looking for some input. OR maybe someone knows if Matt is out for awhile.

  2. Sorry if I didn't give much evidence to back up my post last night. Not sure if it's kosher to post links to other forums here, but this thread has a tiny bit of anecdotal info about the pink stuff growing on LPS skeletons. It's not the thread I was thinking of when I posted, but I couldn't find the other one for the life of me.

Some people over there are recommending an interceptor treatment as a cure-all for various acan problems, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea. I'm not really fond of trying things without at least a sound reasoning as to why it should be done, so these kind of remedies should be taken with a grain of salt IMO. The last thing I'd like is to start a blackmarket for pet meds in Austin. One of the coral dips might be more practical.

Honestly, I think the 2nd and 3rd frags look fine. If the loss of solid red color has you bummed, I've had rainbow acans turn totally red when put in higher light. IME, some acans just tend to morph if their lighting changes even slightly, so I pretty much expect my acans to change their colors after I add them to the tank.

  3. I think I see something pink growing on the skeleton of your frags. I always chalked that up to coraline algae, but one of the acan collectors on another forum that I frequent claims that it's a red flag. The guy was pretty adamant that it's parasitic (I don't know if that's a guess or if there's at least anecdotal evidence to support that claim).

  4. btw, searching for corynactis california or strawberry anemone gives some other pics that look a little different. Some of them are more clear up to the tips, and the oral disks are a little more orangish. There might be some variation in the coloration from that wikipedia pic.

  5. reef_pug, I noticed on the WSIWYG page that the Candy Apple E paly now has the message on the bottom that says "pre-order or request in-stock notification." Is that because you submitted the order or did someone else buy it? If it's not available, then I'm fine with a substitution for Paly Frag C. I'm going to be away for the weekend, so it may be a little tough to get ahold of me. Just wanted to let you know in advance in case my order hit a snag. Thanks!

  6. Hello, everyone. I thought I'd stop lurking in order to make a quick introduction. I've moved in the past month to attend UT and am enrolled in the engineering school for a second degree. I've got an Elos Mini back home and will be setting up a Biocube, which will house some LPS and a couple softies. I'm kind of a tech junkie, too. I'll be dabbling in LEDs when I receive my emitters and drivers in the mail.

Just a quick question, but does anyone know if there's any place locally that carries Prodibio? I'd like to start a bacterial population that way, which will also help the tank to cycle.
