  1. Still seeking some nice examples or matured specimens Also adding to the list: - medium/large Euphillia specimens, no frags - ricordia yumas
  2. I look forward to an update featuring water It really looks great Chris, I had no idea you were building your own stand - props, dude.
  3. Arg, that is exactly what he has, and many of them! I'm just worried about their size being small enough to become possible "snacks" but I'll never know, until I try. I swung by, but he says they are currently NFS - I gotta wait a month! Hopefully I'm able to find me an ORA example, and at least one of the yellows before that long, and I can pick one of the Tyree's from him in October.
  4. Awesome, thanks Melissa! I think I can swing by there tomorrow since I'll be up North, and have never been in before.
  5. It would seem that I've still yet to have anyone follow up on a yellow or green toadstool leather. I'm still interested, and wanting to feel out some locals before ordering elsewhere and dealing with shipping. ...but Divers Den does have a green one and a yellow one that are tempting Anyone?
  6. Cool, any way you could get me a picture of it? A pic of it closed/agitated won't be very telling, but if it opens up at least halfway and you can snap a pic of it I'd just need to see it before trying to meet up. Just let me know Thanks, but I'm not looking for any cabbage, xenia, or kenya tree corals. Only the Fiji/Tonga yellow leathers, and the ORA/Tyree green toadstools. Cool, thanks for the heads up - I'll check your site. Thanks, I'd love to see a pic of it. Please let me know when you've got some pictures The bigger the better (or at least medium > small), as I'm not the biggest fan of growing out frags
  7. I'm looking to buy a few leather corals. I would prefer they were not frag size, hopefully already 2"+, but if you have a good deal on a frag I may take you up on it anyway. I'm looking for the following: - Fiji Yellow Leather - Tonga Yellow Leather - ORA Green Toadstool - Tyree Green Toadstool Here are some visual examples (none of which are mine) You can PM or e-mail (oovwoo at gmail dot com) me for quickest response - thanks!
  8. If you add the Berghia, please make sure to do one/both of the following: 1) turn some of your bigger powerheads off 2) dial large powerheads down I've had far too many friends and customers purchase & acclimate them, only to have them get vaporized by a Tunze/VorTech/MaxiJet/Korallia That being said, if you purchase the Berghia, do be sure to get an adequate number of them for your size aquarium. It should be pretty easy to resell them to somebody else after you're done, to ensure they keep doing their job & do not starve to death. There is always somebody in town with Aiptasia who could benefit from helping the little guys food supply, and help you recoup some of your cost
  9. I can vouch for him trading the rock in on Sunday, I saw it happen
  10. Yep, I know the process and all, and the reason the "most affordable" place won't do it is because they don't like having to zinc-plate the aluminum first, to get the copper to adhere. I tried reasoning that I'm still triple plating: zinc - copper - nickel! Shouldn't be any more work than the standard triple plating of chrome, but they said they just deny all aluminum jobs I think my best bet will just work out to be powdercoat, there's certainly no reason to go another route instead, unless I just wanted to gut my bank account more for the hell of it. I can achieve a polished nickel or dark chrome looking effect with powdercoat, so I have decided to quit messing around. Also, my wheels are 3pc rims, and WOULD actually be reasonable for plating in a shallow bath, given I only truly need the face/spokes + lip done Maybe you'd like to nickel-plate 132 bolts for me, instead?
  11. Mikey, lemme know when you're ready to plate some larger stuff I sent out to 4 different places to get quotes on getting the face & lip of my 16" wheels plated, and each came back with about $1200-1400 quotes. Needless to say, I passed. Sad thing is, nickel plating is one step away from chroming, and I know a chroming joint that would have only charged me $800ish if they just weren't aluminum...
  12. Yeah, URI became UVL - but their SuperActinics are all the same, and just as good as ever
  13. I was surprised with the UV strips - as they are not blinding to the eye, or even a real light-source over the tank. I got my Stunner strips yesterday, and immediately did a photo test with them - they're definitely a pleasant surprise.
  14. That's not what I was trying to get at, no. Carpets are some of the few that will be most insistent on being bottom dwellers, as the floor of the aquarium is one of the only places broad enough for their whole foot to grab hold. Haddoni and Ritteri are the two anemones I typically never suggest people try keeping, as many do not have the lighting ideal for them - with your lighting, I would most suggest sticking to BTA's - as they are commonly available captive bred/raised, and always from locals. Try your hand at that, rather than some a larger, wild caught specimen that may not adapt as readily to your aquarium or it's lighting. The carpet varieties do not absolutely NEED sand, but they will not stop moving/feel safe & comfy until a good perimeter of their foot has been covered. If I try introducing a carpet to my barebottom tank, I'll be surrounding it with small rocks after it grabs hold of the glass, and hoping for the best regarding it's mobility.
  15. This isn't entirely true - there are plenty of anemones that won't really ever grace the floor of your tank in the first place. Regardless of lighting being a lot or a little - many varieties, especially bubble tips, will wander throughout the tank, and eventually settle somewhere within the top third of your tanks height. The types that are a bit less mobile are carpets and the like, which are typically much larger & certainly heavier - these do prefer a flat solid anchor, like the bottom of your tank, and if you don't have sand, some rubble or smaller liverock skirting their foot will be enough for them to feel save & covered.
  16. Red Dragon pumps "just sit there" too and also, aren't much to look at (though they do at least have colors to the assembly, and very clear, easy-to-read print - I'll give em that!) but the same people are ok dropping wads on them
  17. do notice that in the item description, it mentions that the one for sale is "one eye" ... but I'm really hoping that it's the pictured specimen offered at that price, rather than a small frag of it O_o
  18. Very nice - I just passed this along to a buddy who's been thinking of picking up this exact same tank - I'm hoping it works out for the both of you. Also, really great lighting fixture - it makes me sad that this ATI rig is teasing me for a lower price than my LED set-up will be.
  19. so who's tank is this for? any info/pics of the tank? I'm setting up one of the same dimensions, and also have an all-metal stand welded up that I painted at work in our body shop I'd really like to see what comes of this - lots of 20-24" cubes around town, but not enough 36x36
  20. Good choice in dimensions, I'm hoping to set up my 36x36x27 tomorrow, and will also be using the MP40w on EcoSmart driver for the job - though I might add a second MP40w, or an MP10w to the driver down the road. I look forward to seeing your build progress, as so far, everyone else with a tank near 3x3' footprint has been going quite a different direction with their tank than I am. I'll be making a build thread soon, just waiting for more stuff to get done & photographed so I can dump a bunch of stuff in the thread all at once
  21. Hrm, would really like to see a pic for scale - really looking for something that's between 12-24" long, or otherwise something with like 11-15" height I'm not putting exact shape/dimensions into the conquest, but I definitely need something that takes up some real estate - the tank is certainly spacious. I've even tried outsourcing this as far as friends in Houston w/offers for them to drive down Space & funds will certainly permit for a rock in the 20-40lb range, I believe my current biggie is somewhere in the 40-60lb range I was just trying to be conservative when initially asking for something around 15-20lb for starters - but I'd still like to get an idea for how big you piece is, Hamp.
  22. I'd be interested depending on it's size/shape - any way you could post a pic of the rock (in the tank, obviously, don't go pullin it out just for a snapshot) as well as a full tank shot to get a sense of size? I'd appreciate it for sure. I already have some zoas/shrooms on some of my other rocks, so that's alright with me.
  23. So I've got one LARGE piece of liverock already, and a load of other medium/good sized pieces - but I really don't care much for smaller stuff so what I need is cured real liverock, no aquacultured/man-made stuff, even if it's been in your tank for 1-2yrs - do not want. Not looking for branch rock, but other Tonga rock is ok w/me! Your rock could even have a few Aiptasia/Mojano freebies, and I won't mind but Xenia/GSP rock is an absolute deal breaker. All in all, I could really use either ONE big piece (think 18-30lb) or TWO larger (say 12-17lb each) pieces. I'm a sucker for fewer, larger rocks comprising my display. As much as I'm able & willing to construct my own larger arrangements with the zip-ties & acrylic rods project I started tinkering with - I would just much prefer to start with large stuff from the get go for my main structure. In the end, I can offer you straight cash, or I can propose a trade of some of my rock + cash. All my rock is many a year old - and has no need to cure and I would absolutely LOVE to trade some of my branch type stuff for your non branch, but it's not necessary. Please let me know what you've got, I probably only have about one more week *fingers crossed* before I finally set the rock in the tank, and it shall forever hold it's peace.
