Right now I am using my T5 light on my 46 gallon that I had on my 20 gallon and it is not getting the job done... I am thinking about builing a canopy and wanted some suggestions on building my own light in a canopy. I don't have a chiller and don't have the $$ to get one so will the canopy make it too hott? And How much money am I looking at spending on building my own light? I don't think I need metal halide because I am not doing sps, so would it just be a retrofit T5 inside the canopy? thanks for the help

I did a google search for plans to build a 46 gallon bowfront canopy and I have no luck. I'm not yet sure if this is what I want to do but my water evaporates SO fast and salt is evvverrrywhere and I have a couple carpet surfers So if anybody has any suggestions that would be great. Thanks!

Haven't posted on here in a while. I kinda neglected my tank for a little bit but now I am back on track and its looking good. When I was doing a water change yesterday I did notice that there was a kinda spider web looking thing that stretched from one rock to another and I have NO idea what that could be.. If anybody has ever seen this please help me figure out what it is, oh and sorry I don't have any pictures I don't have a camera and you wouldn't be able to see it with a cell phone camera. Thanks!!

Yes it has an accela pump. I clean it every other week but today is the worst I have ever seen it. The water that was returning to the tank was just barely trickleing out and there were no micro bubbles. Is there any modifications I can do to the skimmer or pump to prevent this from happening?

I bought this skimmer about 6 months ago and everything worked fine up until about a month ago. I started having problems so I decided to take it apart and clean it and ever since i did that it starts working less and less after a weeks of running it. When I woke up this morning to check my tank I noticed water was barely even flowing thru t he skimmer it and I couldn't see any micro bubbles. Any Suggestions??

Does anybody have any suggestions on a good 36" light for a 46 gal bow front reef tank. Right now I have my T5 fixture that was on my 20 gal and it is NOT doin the job. I would like to have some SPS coral and possibly a clam or two. Any help would be great!

So i know its all personal preference.. but I'm setting up my 58 gallon tank and I am wanting a school of fish. And i was wondering what other people thought as far as a good school to get. chromis, anthias, cardinals.. I was thinking to get 3 or 4

what do you want for it? or how much $? every time I go to aquadome they never have pom pom. I used to have some but my anenome killed it

so when i was feeding my fish today I noticed when I turned off my powerheads my xenia fell over and wont stand up on its own. It was kinda in a high flow area I was wondering if it should be in a flow area at all. Its not pulsing either.

So one of my friends has a 400 watt metal halide light that he bought from texas hydroponics and I'm not using it anymore and I was wondering if I could use that for my 58 gallon reef tank. And what are the downfalls with using a light like this one? I'm just trying to save some money by not buying a whole new metal halide setup. thanks for input

Welcome to the site! You will find plenty of helpful and friendly folks on here. As for your lighting, you wouldn't need anything too powerful. A good T5 setup would probably be the way that I would go. We were using a T5 setup on our tank for a while and recently switched over to MH, so if your interested, it is available for sale.

How much is your setup going for? and do you have pics or details

Hi I am new to this site. I am currently in the process of setting up my 60 gallon tank. I want to do mostly lps and softies not really looking to do sps I have a pretty small budget I am working with. What kind of light would be good for this, and I do not have a chiller so I am looking for something that will not be too hot. And I want it to have the dusk dawn ability. thanks for your help!
