  1. is EXCITED about her new Solana!

  2. Or the ShamWow guy, "You're gonna love my nuts"
  3. We've never tried the three days of darkness, but we've heard good and bad things about it. Is there anything else you would take for now? Maybe some cash?
  4. Haha! They aren't ready to be fragged yet; I want them to get a few more polyps before start cutting them off. How are the ones that fell off doing? Ours are fully open every day and look great!
  5. We really need to set up our fuge and we need some chaeto. We would really like tp pick it up asap so if you have any to spare or sell, please let us know. Thanks!
  6. In the many things that I have built, not only with this hobby but others as well, you always get a better result when you do more than what you feel you should. I figured that there was plenty of surface area to hold the fan on my tank We all now how that turned out. So if you are going to mod the center brace you will get much better results doing it as meticulous as possible. Draining the tank and properly prepping the area is a lot less work then cleaning up the water and trying to find temp housing for your livestock. and buying a second light would be a lot cheaper than having to get a new tank set up again. It is your adventure so do as you will, but feel free to let us know if you need any help.
  7. All of ours are looking awesome and they have only been in there for about an hour. We're up for another round!
  8. Yeah, I hate those sites too. You can't ever remember which ones you have been to because they are mirror images.
  9. I love the unknown acros and the acans! It's lookiing gooooood
  10. I don't know because when I took all the liverock out of the tank, they were all underneath the pieces at the very bottom. Maybe they do better if they are in schools...
  11. We had three fire fish in our tank and they all stayed in, even when the fan fell in. Ha!
  12. Welcome to the site! You will find plenty of helpful and friendly folks on here. As for your lighting, you wouldn't need anything too powerful. A good T5 setup would probably be the way that I would go. We were using a T5 setup on our tank for a while and recently switched over to MH, so if your interested, it is available for sale.
  13. We have a 48" fixture that we used on our 55 for a little while. It is 8x64 watt T5's. 3 of the bulbs are new and the others are about 6 months old. There are two 10K Daylights, 3 15K Daylights and 3 Super Actinic plus 4 white LED's. We were going to replace all the lights with 15K's, but we decided to use MH instead. This would be best on a 75 gallon+ tank with some MH. It does have one fan that needs to be replaced. PM me if you are interested.
  14. Turns out my wife didn't turn the light all the way into the socket. It is working great now! Thanks to everyone that gave advice. It is much appreciated.
  15. I guess that would have been the first thing to do. lol We'll try that tomorrow since they're still a little warm. If the light is yellow, what is the most common reason for that? Just for my own information in the future. Thanks!
  16. Yeah, but we have had the lights on for about 4 hours and it is still yellow. So I don't think it is an issue of warm up time; I wish it was.
  17. I finally got around to building the skeleton for my hood and placed the metal halide lamps in. When I fired them up, all but one of my 175watts warmed up and turned blue. The other 175 is just yellow it was on for about 4 hours and never turned blue like the others. I was just wondering if anyone was familiar with this problem? Am I gonna have to buy another ballast or is it the bulb? I bought the ballast used here on ARC so a refund is probably out of the question.
  18. We'll be there. We can bring some drinks if they are needed. If not, just let us know what is needed.
  19. as long as you don't learn how to make the mistakes. and Midgets and Unicorns shouldn't play in elevators, they might get frogs
  20. That is one way to look at it I suppose. Everything always leads back to survival of the fittest. I tend to enjoy out-smarting the rules; if I'm told that it won't work, I'll try until I am convinced 100% that it won't work.
  21. Awsome link. I wish I would have found it prior to my trial and error. I think for right now, spot feeding should be good. I am worried about the other inhabitants of the tank with that type of regiment; it would be difficult to keep the parameters in check. In Chuck's experiment, he only had azooxanthellate corals so it was easy(or should I say easier) to maintain a stable system for that one type. When you have multiple types of coral all needing different parameters, I imagine it would be a bit more troublesome. I guess my question for the day is: how do you isolate certain systems to certain corals when they all inhabit the same reef?
