  1. Man, I hate to see you sell that. You've got all the expensive pieces of a setup already. Unless you plan on upgrading, I'd say keep it all and wait until you have enough money for the rock and get that thing running again.

    Just my $.02.

I hate selling it but I just moved into my first house and it seems like I have more money going out than coming in. I think once I get caught up on my finances and used to all the extra stuff that comes with owning a house I might get a Solana or something similar.

  2. I just bought my first house and do not have the money to set my tank back up. I had it setup at my apartment until I had to take it down because there was a small plumbing leak in the wall behind my tank that ruined the wall, carpet, and of course my tank stand. I sold all of the livestock when I had to take it down last spring but I held on to my equipment with the hopes of setting it back up one day but it won't happen for a while. I bought the tank, stand, and light fixture from River City in March 2009. The T5 bulbs where replaced in March 2010 but I quit using them in May 2010 when the leak happened so there is still 8-10 months of good use out of them. If you are interested the the tank and want a matching stand, call River City to get a price on it. I believe it is around $450 for the stand. I attached a pic of what it looked like it before the tank leak. Please call or text me at 512-422-8558. I work in retail so text is usually the best.

  3. I have a Precision Marine R24 sump/refugium for $150. It has 1 1" drain and the overall dimesions are 24"x 11.5"x 14", protein skimmer chamber dimensions are 10.5"x11", refugium chamber is 6.5"x11 and pump chamber is 3.75"x11".I had it on my 90g SPS tank and it was ok but I would recommend for a 75g or less. I purchased it from River City Aquatics 1.5 years ago. It does not have any cracks in it.

I also have a Euroreef RS80 for $100 (used in the sump) and a Coralife Super Skimmer 125 for $40 for sale as well. The Euroreef is what I used on my SPS tank and it barely fits inside of the sump that I have for sale. The coralife skimmer I used on a 40g breeder a while back and the output tube is modified to make it run a little quiter. Both skimmers come with pumps in good working condition and free of any cracks in the main chamber. The Coralife skimmer has a crack in the top part of the collection cup but I will put some Weldon on it to seal it shut so it won't leak.

Please feel free to call or text me at 512-422-8558. I work 6 days a week and it is hard for me to reply to PMs. You can also email me at [email protected] as well.

    Thanks for looking.

  4. I recently had to downgrade from a 90g to a 20g, so I have a bunch of live rock left over. I am selling it for $2 per lb. The rock is completely cured. Pieces range from small to large. Please PM me if you have any questions.

  5. Ok, so I did the ph test and I took a cup of water and left it outside for a few hours and tested the ph and it was a lot higher than my tank water. So, I guess my options are to run a CO2 scrubber or to drip kalk right?

  6. I'll try that ph test tonight. If it is due to high CO2 in my apartment, an airstone in the sump wouldn't help at all though right? The only reason I'm freaking out is because all my corals have been shrunk up for a over two weeks now. Not even my zoas are out. I did two 50% water changes this week but that didn't help. I replaced all 6 T5 bulbs in March. I have carbon in a reactor in my sump. If its not the low ph, and all my other parameters are ok (except for the high alk which was caused by the buffer), what else would be making them shrink up?

  7. I have a ph probe and double checked it with a test kit as well. It is definitely low.

It has been low for about 2 weeks now. None of my zoas are out. My pom poms are all shrunk up. My hammer is sucked up, my anemones, the list goes on. I already had one tank crash in January when I was in the hospital and lost all my sps. I don't want to lose all my softies and lps that I have already purchased again.

I do not know my current calcium and magnesium levels. Would they contribute to a low ph?

  8. I am so frustrated. I can not get my ph to stay up. I can put in a ph buffer and raise it to 8.1-8.2 for about a day or so, then its back down to 7.6-7.8. If I don't fix it soon, I'm going to lose all my corals. My alk is currently at 15 but my ph is 7.8. Any ideas why it won't stay up?

  9. I'm really curious as to what all you did. My tank looked just like that while I was sick and in the hospital. I had surgery and was in the hospital for 2 weeks only to come home to a tank that was COVERED in hair algae and missing fish. I just traded all my fish and corals in and I'm gonna start over. I'm drying my rock out right now because I thought it was hopeless to try to even attempt to fix it...not to mention I'm not supposed to lift more than 10lbs right now so there goes water changes.

I saw you used a phosphate sponge and then GFO. Which one worked best and which one do you still use? Which skimmer did you switch from? And what else did you change to get it to start looking that way, manually picking stuff, scraping the walls, etc?
