  1. I just got a tank off of a friend of mine, and it had an APEX unit on it, but she never had the digital controller.  i have looked all over and i can not  find a way to get connected without.  i have the IP address, but i can not access it.  It is currently hardwired to the router, but still no luck.  Hopefully there is a guru here that can help me, because the lights are running on this controller, and without access... i have no lights :)

    Thank you!

  3. I do not know if your star fish are going to make it through a cycling tank, but it is possible, depending on how bad the spikes are. I do have to agree though that it is most certainly aptaisia in your picture. I think they are also called rock anemones, but they are not something you want in your tank. Peppermint shrimp is the only thing i can think of that eat them, but i have also seen several chemicals that will take care of them. However, as with anything chemical, they will probably effect your other inhabitants. You will also not want to add livestock to a cycling tank.

  4. I have read in a few places that flame angels eat gold diatom, wich is what most "brown hair algae" is. Also i was told by aqua tek that cerith snails will also eat it. From what i have researched it lives on phosphates and silicates. But also seems to pop up when you use flake food for your fish. You might try reducing your fish feedings if you are using any flake.

  5. I am down for an order from your reef, they are doing free shipping on orders over $250 so we should get an order that size at least. I need maybe 40 dollars worth of stuff, so lets find a few more people. Their frag packs are great deals, so it should not be hard. If we can get everyone to list the dollar amount of what they need, we can place an order when we hit $250. Sound like a plan???

  6. I have used DT's in my 46 bowfront as a filter food, and you do get a slightly polluted look, though i had a gonipora and a sun coral that never looked healthy until i started the cyclopeeze. After that they all perked right up.
