Hi guys just wanted to up date this thread. I have since taken out the water,rocks, and sand. I have lowered the price to $300 and than includes the tank, stand, heater, pump, protein skimmer, koralia powerhead, magnetic glass cleaner and "fish saver" for the open space in the back.

I've recently upgraded to a 90g and looking to sell my 29g Biocube and stand. It is 1 1/2 years old and in excellent condition. It is currently set up and functioning so the gravel (black) and 4 good size pieces of live rock will go with it. The live rock has Green Star polys and a few purple mushrooms growing on it. I will also throw in the Koralia nano powerhead that is currently in it. Price $350 for everything...must come pick up. I live in Round Rock (north end of Austin).

I dare not stick my fingers in my clown's tank!! They bite...well she does! Nasty little fish...but I do love them. They are very strange fish though. Mine sleep on top of the water on their sides, kinda like they are dead. My female also moves small pieces of rock around the tank. She has a little area in the back of my tank cleaned out and has even dug a little hole that she likes to snuggle in sometimes.

I feel your pain!! I also have a pair of just plain ol' Nemo's and the female is MEAN!!! I have to use my net to run interference when ever I put my hand in there. I've even tried doing what I need at night when the lights are out but she comes flying out of her cave (they have hosted a cave) with mouth open!! My husband don't help the situation much because he starts "singing" the JAWS theme whenever he knows I'm messing with the tank. I about jump out of my skin evertime she gets me!!

Thanks for the advice but I don't think I want to risk it right now! It's been doing so well all by itself...I'm just gonna let nature do it's thing!

Back in July my bubble coral (my favorite coral) died. It happened overnight with no explanation that I could come up with. This is what it looked like to start with this is when it started to die I didn't take any pictures of it when it was completely dead because it was just too sad!! All that was left was exoskeleton and a few scattered pieces of flesh. I got some really good advice from fellow reefers, who told me to leave it in my tank because there was a small chance that it would grow back. Well I am happy to report that it is indeed growing back!! I can't believe it! Over the last few weeks I've noticed a lot of growth and it's even starting to inflate again!! Here is what it looks like now...

Well my 29BC has been up and running for about 1 year now so I guess it's time to buy new lights. Do I change both at once or do it staggered over a couple of week? Also, should I shorten the light cycle for the first few days until the corals get used to the new lights? I have softies, LPS, and zoas...plus 2 clowns, a 6 line, a yellow watchman and the standard CUC! Thanks.

It's not overstocked because I only have 15 snails and 15 hermit crabs in it. I also buy pre-mixed salt water from my LFS. It's a new tank so I'm not sure what the problem is. I'll take a sample to my LFS this week in case I'm just not testing right at home. Deanna

I can't get a good picture of it. They all come out too blurring to see anything!

I recently started a 29g biocube and just added my cleaning crew last night. This morning I noticed some things growing on my live rock. One is yellow and looks like a little bud with a small hole at the tip. The other one is a little orange stack with a flat head on it with a smaller one just like it next to it. What the heck are these and do I need to do anything about/with them? Deanna

I have a new 29g biocube that I just added my cleaning crew too. My pH is reading 7.7. What range should the pH be and do I need to do anything with my pH? Thanks, Deanna

Last night while adding un-cured live rock to my new tank, I noticed a wierd worm...at least I think it was a worm. It was worm-like but flat. It was pink/orange in colour but had hair (maybe legs) all the way around the edges. It also had a rounded end! I did not remove it...thought it would be better to leave it alone. What the heck was that? Is it okay to leave it in the new tank? Thanks, Deanna

Thanks for your suggestion. I was wondering what kind of filtration you would need in a QT tank. The people I talked to said that I didn't need to run the QT tank all the time, just when I need to use it. Would it be okay to just leave it filled with water but not running? That just doesn't seem right to me? I understand why it's important not to have coral in there but I would think I would need to have it running with some sort of filtration at all times? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have to disagree slightly with the 2 above. I know from experience that a QT is very hard to maintain without any biological filtration. The numbers can swing very quickly! I would say if you plan on keeping the QT running until you have the large tank fully stocked, sand and Live rock are a good idea. It will help keep it stable and make the fish feel more at ease. Corals would not be a good idea as they mentioned since certain medications would kill them and cause more problems. I would also leave out snails and hermits or get just a couple that you could remove during treatments as many medications will kill them as well. HTH!

Thanks for the suggestions. After talking with some local "fish" people, I decided to start out with a 29g Biocube. They were very helpful and talked me through some of my fears. They also suggested that for a QT tank I just use a small (10g) "empty" tank with no sand and/or rock. So last night I set up the biocube with 30lbs of "uncured" live rock, sand, and pre-mixed water. They told me a wait a week and then bring them in a water sample. I plan on getting my own testing kit this week...what kind should I get? So what should I expect this week while the tank is "cycling"? Thanks, Deanna

I've finally made the decision to start a salt water tank. My goal is to have a 70-90 gallon tank with some soft coral and small easy fish (ie clown fish and the like). I'll get more daring when I get some experience. I've been doing a like research and have a few questions. I want to set up a smaller QT tank to start with...Is a 30 gallon big enough for a QT tank? Can I set that up as a small reef tank with sand,live rock and some soft coral? Is it okay to keep soft coral in a QT tank? I'm thinking that I set up the QT tank for about a month or so than start with my main tank...is this okay? I want to take this slow and do it correctly. Any tips or comments welcomed. Thanks, Deanna
