  2. Reef Nutrition's Tigger-Pods, they have them at RCA, Deep Blue, Aquatek and the Dome. Some people throw in about a bottle a month for young tanks. or develop cultures of their own from them. They are pretty pricey though, it would be nice if you could get the big bags from other suppliers at our LFS's.

I got cheato from healthy tanks to start my population.

  3. Cindy, thanks so much for the frags. The palys are all opened up and looking great as are the polyps. i got the mushrooms all glued down and they are also looking pretty happy.. i think i spent more money on gas than you charged for the frags.

  4. Come take some if you're in the Austin area and want to come by! Chaeto, caulerpa and some of the darker green stuff (can't remember the name right now). PM and I'll tell you how to get here. I'll be home after 5:00 today.

can i come by tomorrow? i got a new tank and sump that could use some macro.

  5. Simple answer, I was stupid. I took the tank apart (restarting cycle, I'm sure) and got it drilled by Rufus at Deep Blue. They did it for free for me and even gave a some bulkheads. It was a crazy hole to drill since we had to offset and drill the 3/4 hole to a 1" hole. We were pretty nervous. All this was even on Easter.

The mag 7 is running full power and the new 1" drain working great.

It still overflowed because I put a tee on the return and put a ball valve on the tee return that went back to the fuge. So it knocked the pump down to half without overheating it or causing any long term wear. It didn't work since I still had a 3/4" drain and I'm glad it didn't since I no longer need it and the tank works better now.

    Thanks

    Aaron

  6. Set up the tank this morning, I think it'll look great once the sand clears. I added 40 more pounds of sand and about 10 pounds of rock from aquatech to fill the holes in the structure I wanted to build. I went through about 6 tubes of superglue.

I stabbed my knuckle with one of those little spine/needle worm things growing on the rock and it left a small hole and my knuckle swelled up a little and is till pretty sore. Weird huh?

  7. Hello, this may be a simple thing but I am water testing a 40 gallon cube tank in my bathtub. I decided to water test the 10 gallon DIY sump/fuge at the same time.

Since I was doing that, I decided to hook up the plumbing and Mag 7 pump.

The cube is in the tub, not very level but water is getting into the overflow and the sump is on the ground right next to it.

The tank is drilled with 3/4" (inside diameter) bulkheads. The tubing is 3/4" hose that has not been cut to size yet, they are 6' each.

When I turn the pump on, it empties the return chamber and runs dry before the overflow can catch up... it's barely a trickle really.

Am I doing this too soon? Would gravity and shorter hose fix this? Should I wait to get it set up before I test this kind of stuff? It would have sucked to make the mess that did in my living room. Am I just stupid?

Thank you guys for any advice.

  8. Actually the clown paired up with mine as soon as I put him in the tank. Thanks a lot Rob, they are a really cool pair. Your Clown is teaching mine how to go and be cleaned by the fire shrimp and they are having a lot of fun. I pair of clowns are a lot cooler than just one, very different behavior. I just need to get my new tank up and running because of the big bioload I added.
