  1. Hello all,

My Saddleback clowns have spawned again. This time we have the clown fish book so we kinda know what is going on. My wife has now decided that she is going through with breeding. So I have come here to ask if any one has a rotifer setup and a batch and experience the could offer me.

  2. I know there is a lady on reef central that has done a lot with raising clowns. You might do a search there and see what your find. I know you will need to remove them to a separate tank and they need rotifers to eat while they are tiny. Beyond that I can't help your too much.

Yea I have read that I was hopeing some one knew some more stuff. Thanks for the tip I will check there.

  3. Does no one have any exp on this issue. Even the littlest would help me out name a book or a website. I'm willing to look at all what is thrown at me. According to one page there is not much time only about 10 day until they hatch. If nothing is done then all the fish will be haveing a high protein meal.

  4. Help Me Please

Hello all I need some help. My wife saw that the the saddle back clowns have laid eggs and would like to keep them. I have read some stuff on line from http://www.petstation.com/clownfish.html that gives me a general Idea what todo. The eggs right now are orange and the male is aerating the eggs. I need help!!!!!!

Oh yea they are laid by the anemone on a small branch of live rock.

  5. Is it ok to split a long tentacle anemone? If so what is needed and how would you do it and what is the possibility that the anemone will not survive? I would have to say that it is about 4 to 5 inches around or bigger when it fully out. I have had the anemone for about 8 months now and it seems to be doing a lot better that I started to give it two blocks of mysis shrimp once or twice a week.

  6. With the overlay, I payed 2.80 a sq ft to have someone do it. Of course, the company I used was terrible! I hope they are out of business.

Here is the place that I used and they were real nice and allowed us to bug them. We also did not go with the layover and went with the natural concrete and can see the shoe prints and bucket makes from when they were pouring the concrete. I guess I paid a bit more for mine because I have a compass star in front of the fire place and a boarder around the entire living room and continues into the dinning room and a hallway. We also had the outside of the house done when you walk up the front door. Holland Floors I could try to send some pics if you would like. I have it done in Aug and have not had it waxed since so it could look a little dull until you mop the floor and then it is like wow all over again. The pic of the floor is not my house but of the same design and color that we got too.

I have just got done with a treatment for ich. We had a cole tang that had ick. You need to place the fish in the quarantine tank and follow the directions for on the bottle of copper. We used Organi cure we picked it up at Aqua Dome she said for a couple of bucks. Make sure to get a copper test. You can also try a cleaner wrasse but at the point you at at I would use the copper. Also try to keep the main tank about 80 it will cause the ich to hatch faster.

  8. rogerbn, 4R00P3R, Dena,

are yall able to upload directly to the forum now?

Sorry I have not been on for a couple of days. I will check when I get home to day to see if i'm able to do it.

I was trying to attach a pic to the thread to see if any one was able to figure out what was on this rock that we have.

  9. Looking for about 100 pounds of rock. I can not even come close to be able to afford to buy all that. So one of the things I was looking at is maybe using some real porous limestone. I do not know if that would be acceptable or not. I have about 60 to 70 pounds of live rock now. If it's ok to use any one know were to find some? Or does any one have any good ideas what kinda of rock could be used instead?

  10. I haven't seen in but I have heard they are cheaply made and one person on RC could not get it hold water. Most likely it was user error on his part but I have used Amiracle, LifeReef and Quiet Flo's and if set up properly they are excellent. My last QuietFlo was in operation for 3 years and never failed to start up after a power outage. One thing to note is to make sure you have enough water flowing through them to let any micro bubbles flow through. On a 600 gph unit this would be about 350 gph.

I use one of them now and do not have problems with it.

  11. If it looks like this...

    snailswork.jpg

...it may be diatoms. Was the tank set up with new sand? I had it on a small tank I set up a few years ago and the snails wiped it out and what they didn't chow on went away in a few weeks after it appeared. Puffers are messy eaters and nutrient control is very difficult...you need some serious skimming and try and get as many bristle worms in that tank as you can.

I have seen alot worse in my own tank we have been fighting it for about two months now. It was to the point that you could do a water change and have a direct current pull water and algae off the rock and with in five minutes the algae was back again. It was on all the rock and it started to get hairy. We also have the refugium with macro-algae. We do not yet have a ro/di filter so we have to user tap water with a dechlorinator. We are starting to think it is the dechlorinator that we were using. We have switched about a week or two ago and there is a big difference in the tank now. The picture that you posted is the way my is now starting to look now. We just use a lot of fish and hermit crabs and snails to fight it now.

  12. Hello all,

Well I have been reading the site for about a week now and decided to say hi to all.

Little about what I got. I have a 75g and a 28g. Not much in each right now still trying to get the hang on every thing. I have a couple the items in the tank: Yellow eye Cole tang, yellow tang, and convict tang, two mated saddle back clowns, some kind of damsel that is black with a yellow tail, long tentacle anemone, cleaner wrasse, and a cleaner shrimp all in the 75 along with the crabs and the snails. As you can see with the selection there is a bit of algae problem that is starting to come down. There is also a leather coral and a Chile coral and some yellow thing too (Sorry for the great name for some of these items but my wife bought them so I don’t know the name of them) some kind of of plate coral and some mushrooms that came with the rock and on the same rock are some sponges.
