Hey guys, I finally just set up my 125 reef tank and I am looking into flow options for mixed reef tank.
Considering ice cap 3k or jebao cp150 for main flow and maybe another power head near the bottom of the tank behind the rocks.
Any experience with the ice cap 3k or the cp150? I am trying to stay under $160 in cost. I have a reef angel controller but may or may not control the pumps if it gets too costly.

i was trying to find a lid stay mechanism for my canopy and after it broke a few I am thinking it’s just to darn heavy for my tank.

Setting up my 125 gallon.
Anyone have some live or dry rock and sand for sale?

I could install filter socks at the fuge intake to remove the dt detritus. Could it work to tee off of main drain - and leave second drain as emergency? Or work by using both drains and no emergency? Even if one drain clogged there would be no flood in either scenario.

Hey guys could I get some help reviewing my sump, refugium design here? Please see attached file.
It seems i have a few options.
1- tee of main return to send controlled flow to refugium which would be elevated and gravity fed to sump- skimmer- return. I would still have an emergency drain.
2- tee off return to feed the separate refugium, let it gravity feed to main sump
3 - run both drains and one feeding the refugium would have a valve to control flow.
I have retained and painted inside out of my stand so far, painted the back of the tank, ordered all my lights. Just need to finalize the sump design.

I am looking at the it2081 fixture on ebay. I can get 2 for $400 shipped with a 1 year usa warranty. They seem to be the evergrow or ocean revive makers from what I can tell. http://www.oceanrevivellc.com/goods.php?id=20
I like that it can provide sunrise and sunset programming along with the remote and 2 color channels. the dimensions are 31.5"x8.5" and I would be installing them on my wooden canopy.
Would 2 of these provide great coverage on a 72" tank? they come with 90 degree lenses. Anyone have experience with this model to share feedback?
I will probably change out the red and green lenses in favor of more white or uv.

Thanks for the replies. I plan on running the two sumps if possible. One for a refugium, and the other for skimmer, reactors, and the tank return.
The tank will be a mixed reef and controlled with a reef angel set up. I have a lot of piping and equipment but am not opposed to purchasing needed plumbing.
The sump on the left is sitting on a platform and has two holes for pipes on the right side to drain into sump two on the right.
Which sump should be the refugium?
Should I send both tank drain pipes to one sump or split them going to seperate sumps with a valve on one drain for the refugium.
it looks like the sump on the right was set up for an external return pump. I have a brand new quiet one 5000 pump that I plan on using.
is it best to run a seperate pump for a skimmer or tap into the return or drain to feed the skimmer?
it looks like the previous owner tried to make some kind of wave maker that connects to some of the return piping. Any idea if that should be utilized? 3rd picture down

Finally have the funds to set my 125 gallon reef tank up. I have the tank pre drilled and a stand with two sumps along with a bunch of miscellaneous equipment from the previous owner.
if someone who is very knowledgeable with plumbing and has experience with tank set ups is willing to come over and help that would be amazing. For your troubles I could give you a mr aqua 12g tank or a new 165w Chinese led light.
i live in kyle in the hometown kyle neighborhood. Let me know if your interested in assisting.

Still haven't done anything with it. I plan on working on it this month.

I believe the previous owner used the 2 bulkheads in the elevated sump to drain into the sump that will be installed on the right without a pump. The drain feeding the refugium has a gated valve.
He had the right drain from the tank feed unrestricted into the equipment sump on the right. He also had the gated valve.
The right side sump would have the return in it which I might want to add a manefold to feed a skimmer, reactor, and expansion possibility.
I will follow the advice on making the drains vertical. I think they were sideways from the transporting of the tank.

Here are the two pictures of the bulkheads. So herbie is ok to run if drilled on back of glass and not bottom of the overflow? the bulkheads have an inner diameter of 1 and 3/4"
I have two sumps. One will be on a platform and overflowing to the second pump with a gate valve to control.
I have a bunch of plumbing equipment but I am kind of overwhelmed as I am used to nano tanks. If anyone lives near Kyle to stop by I would love some help figuring this all out. I could throw $20 for the advice and help.

I bought a used 125 gallon tank that has an internal coast to coast overflow. The tank has 2 bulkhead drains drilled on the back of the overflows.
Do I need to drill a third drain to make a bean animal overflow?
can it work safely as is?
I will be running two sumps - one as a refugium and the other for equipment.

Hello everyone,
I purchased a 125 gallon tank that includes a lot of plumbing and I am not sure which route to go with it.
The tank has an internal c2c with two drain holes drilled. I will be running two sumps underneath. 1 for equipment and the other a refugium. The refugium will be elevated to overflow into the equipment sump.
The returns will most likely be pvc hanging over the back since I have a nice canopy to hide them.
Should I drill a third drain to make a bean animal? Is it fine with two drains? Any advice is appreciated.
