  1. I ordered it with a steel stand. It was before I knew you were making them or I would have asked you first. I need to skin it myself.
  2. No problem this stuff is important. I wish i would have known before, I could have saved a few bucks. I think the tank will be delivered on Thursday. Need to finalize the date.
  3. Thats what it was sold as. Cali tort.
  4. My biggest problem with those types, i always label them "chopshops" in my head, is they get the mari cultured in and don' spend the time with it to see if it will keep the colors in home aquaria. They just chop them up and sell them quick and the end buyer ends up with browned out coral. The responsible vendors I have talked to keep corals at least 6 months and at best a year to make sure the coral has a consistent color in our home aquaria. I asked 1 guy at the last swap if a piece was maricultured? He said no, he got it mari and he aquacultured it. For how long? Two months. lol. Don't get me wrong I am into nice pieces and it is convienent to have a common name so you can communicate about it but it is the buyers burden of due diligence to beware of those who try to turn their hobby into a home business.
  5. When a coral comes in sometimes different wholesalers will get the same item and name it differently, sometimes the corals are a bit different but so similar you can only tell the difference next to each other. Examples Hawkins vs JF coolers turaki. So similar Greg hillers aqua delight vs Ora pearlberry. So similar The whole Cali tort vs Oregon tort thing Golden basket burning candle vs JF fox flame, exact same Ora red planet vs Christmas mirabilias vs ultra coral dippin dots all so similar. SC orange passion vs rr orange passion vs golden basket talisman, slight differences There are many others. I think if you saw the three I have right next to each other there is no difference at all. I think that some of the more popular ones got aquacultured and then passed around before the whole naming thing became a gold mine for certain vendors. I also think some of the smaller vendors possibly get nice named corals and then rename them after they morph a little in their tanks to cash in on the trend. This is all just my two cents on it and I don't fault people for trying to make money, I really just find the whole thing very intriguing. That's interesting on the Greg Hiller's aqua delight and the Pearlberry because they are both on my list, haha. I will have to take a closer look at them again but I guess this whole train of thought is to rethink why I have a list of named corals in the first place.
  6. So close but one of those guesses is wrong.
  7. Yea of course, I am pretty sure they are easy and you for sure know the middle one. Give it a go!
  8. The baby is sleeping so I have to be quiet so I was checking out my corals and noticed something funny. This whole naming the corals is very subjective and this teaches me not to drop money on corals until I see them or in the case of online, making sure their pics are the correct color. The two in this picture are a Northern lights Nasuata and a Tyree Ultimate stag. This is a mariculture I got at Aquadome. They all look pretty similar to me. Now I am not saying I was intentionally defrauded, I trust all the sellers and they could be different corals. I guess I am saying don't buy something just because of its name.[emoji106] FWIW i like them all. Now here is a nice set. Can anyone guess the names?
  9. Yep, I can take the whole wall down pretty easily and the room goes back to normal. Thanks for looking out though. I wonder how many people watch those home improvement shows on TV and take down load bearing walls without checking?
  10. If you look at the first few pics you can see how I built it. Just a false wall in a larger room.
  11. Just need to finish corners and touch up paint. Here is the must have tape layout for any build thread. Looks like I will meet the dead line. I am still waiting on sump, I need to check in with Terry. If anyone sees anything that may improve this let me know, it's now or never after this week.
  12. Thank you Cody for taking the 160. I think you have a good plan for it. Don't mind the cords, I did that last night right before bed so I need to fix that. No rats nest on this build. I can see my corals now! Paletti Yellow Tip on right RR The Vihn on left Red Dragon with almost blue tips, hard to see in pic. 2 Marine Pure blocks for frag rack and hanging some carbon because they were very mad last night.
  13. Yea the one directly behind the tort. I got it from the guy from corpus. I can't wait to see it get bigger.Got one from Minh (Orion) as well. It's showing some great promise. It may actually earn a spot on the aquascape. I think this was the nicest acro at the swap, big frags at decent a price. I think it will for sure earn a spot on the aquascape. I would like to see his colony.
  14. I just needed to get the water flowing and the CARX back on line tonight. I will rig up some lights for the interim. I have a couple ai primes to help . Some emarco 400 for scaping.
  15. What a long day. I am exhausted and my house stinks like the beach, not the good beach. Some progress pics. Before Slowly moving. But where is it going? Who knew how much equipment it takes? All out, kind of. Clean up a little and move back in. That is a very full frag tank. Fish are hiding under rock playground in 100g tub. The smell of a large tank caked with Caroline as its drying is something special.., It only took 8 hours. my dogs are barken. I m ready for some sleep. Codyja, if you see this and want to come before noon just let me know. My wife is going to murder me for the smell, haha.
  16. Yea the one directly behind the tort. I got it from the guy from corpus. I can't wait to see it get bigger.
  17. I got an email today saying the tank is done and on its way to Austin! It sounds like it will be delivered next week to my house. They will bring it in and level it then I will plumb it and get it ready. I will leave the back breaking work to the professionals. I started unplugging some equipment tonight but I still have a long day ahead of me tomorrow. I hate to have to disrupt my corals but this will be so much better when it is all done. I have been thinking a lot about the wall I built for this tank and how I will have to modify it for the new tank. I was thinking about changing the drywall to tongue and groove pinewood but I just can never get stain to look as good as I want it. I will just have to touch up the paint I think and call it good.
  18. Getting wall prepared as much as I can. I can't do anymore until the tank is out. Some frags. Chips from Ty. Colors are amazing, the purple branch really is purple.
  19. Some goodies arrived today. Wiring conduits in blue 10 # Tongan brach from Aquascape really nice and clean.
  20. Thanks Bobcat, This is not my ideal conditions for setting up. I feel I'm under the gun to get it set up almost immediately. I really want to take some time with the scape but I have to keep it all wet and live until then. I am going order some emarco cement and Try to build something functional while keeping as much off the bottom as possible. I made a mistake of large flat pieces that are hard to get flow through so changing things up a little this time. I like bare bottom minimal scaping so that's what I am going for. I'm going to start taking some things off line this weekend. Get the garage in shape for a staging area. I also need to take frags off rock and put them on new plugs. Bob, I am sure you will get there sooner than you think.
  21. I made a list as I sat in the fish room. A Deconstruction sequence if you will. I have it numbered and came up with 21 steps to success. And that list doesn't include opening up the wall a little more to fit everything. I have the next two weekends to accomplish this as I need the 160 out on Saturday Oct 1. Codyja is planning to bring his truck down that morning to pick it up. After that I have a few half days here and there to enlarge the wall and be ready. The rock I have cooking in the garage is doing great, phosfree pretty immediately settles to bottom, I plan on getting a Po4 reading tomorrow. If it's good I would like to start getting some rock formations going. Parts are starting to order, pipes, cable management, the detail stuff that will be nice to have on hand. Once I get more things moving I will do so before and after pics. I know that is what the masses want.
  22. Nice! Why don't you bring those over one day and we can blast my SPS colonies as a trial run! [emoji6] I bet we could get a wave high enough in your tank to do some body boarding.
  23. Now we're cooking with butter!!!
  24. Thanks Seth. It is exciting like watching a car race and wondering if someone is going to crash. I think I have a good plan and keep parameters where they need to be during the transition phase. We will see.I really need to find some time to come look at your setup because your build is so tidy and I can obviously use some pointers. Looks like you have a pretty good start to me Your welcome to come whenever you like. Don't do it, it's a trap! Haha, good planning on that tank. I love the dimensions You mean like this?
  25. I am not sure what the rims were, they were on it when I bought it. I think I saw them at discount tires once and I still see newer jeeps with the rims. The tires are BFG 35's Mud Terrains. I would not have kept them though, I was looking for bead locks when I shifted priorities to an indoor sport. They did look good though, thanks!
