  2. $15. Do you have a fish in your tank that is impossible to catch? If you want to catch your fish without destroying the rockwork and aquascape in your tank, then get this product. I had a royal dottyback in my tank for many years and he became quite the bully. Because he's so fast, he was impossible to catch with a regular fish net. So I purchased this fish trap just for this little guy and it worked like a charm. After getting used to the trap, he would easily go in and out to eat food. Then I just closed the door and voila! I was so happy to get that bugger our of the tank. Check out this video for how to use a similar trap:

    Product Description: "The Trap" will catch and remove unwanted tank inhabitants safely and easily. It makes dismantling your aquarium a thing of the past. Don`t let those shrimp, crabs, fish, eels destroy the beauty and upset the balance of your aquarium. It is made of 100% clear acrylic providing durability and is virtually invisible to the inhabitants of your aquarium.

  3. I have 6 maxijet powerhead pumps for sale - 3 maxijet 400s (106 gph) and 3 maxijet 1200s (295 gph). I just cleaned them all super thoroughly and tested them. They all work very well. One of the 1200s is outfitted with the Ecosystem Mod that increases the output and flow tremendously. This works extremely well if you want more water movement in your tank without the direct blast of a high output pump.

    I will also include an brand new, extra impeller for the 1200 series pumps, as well as tons of suction cups, and other miscellaneous pump parts (see attached pictures). $45 for everything. Send me a PM if interested. I'm located near Oltorf/I-35. Thanks for looking!

  5. AquaC EV-240 Protein Skimmer - This skimmer is only 6 months old. It is a super solid skimmer. Also has a John Guest fitting so calcium reactor effluent can flow directly into it so that excess CO2 will blow off instead of lowering the pH of the system. Mag-Drive 18 Pump - came with the AquaC-240. It drives the skimmer really well. This is also only 6 months old.

    * Height: 26"

    * Included Pump: Mag-Drive 18 (flowrate of 1800 GPH)

    * Footprint: 6.75" x 10.75"

    * Foam Tower: 6"OD

    * Tank Size: 80-350 gallons

    * JG Fitting: standard

    * Bubble Size: .03–.05mm

    * Water flow-thru rate: 550gph

    * Volume of foam produced: 320cu.in.

    Features:

    * The addition of a precision ball valve for airflow control allows the aquarist to fine tune the skimmer`s output. Unlike most other high performance skimmers in this class, the EV is remarkably silent. The spray injection system does not generate the sucking noises typical of venturi and Beckett units.

    * The John Guest inSpeedfitin fitting is a great feature you will only find on AquaC ozone-equipped skimmers. This fitting is standard on models EV-240 and above, and can be ordered on the EV-120/180 ($5.00 option). Aquarists may also connect their calcium reactor effluent line to the skimmer`s speedfit connection. The pH of a calcium reactor effluent typically falls between 6.5-6.9, and over time the addition of this low pH effluent can have a deleterious effect on the system`s pH level. By dosing your effluent directly into the skimmer, excess CO2 will be inblown offin into the atmosphere and the tank pH will remain unaffected.

    * The improved inTwist-Lockin collection cup and cap makes for a secure, flanged connection without the need for set screws or other locking type unions. Simply twist to crack the seal (EPDM gaskets) and removal requires a scant ¼in clearance. The new EV Series skimmers can be operated with AquaC`s auto-waste container, which are available in 2.5 and 5 liter sizes.

    * Increased contact time = more protein removal. The size of the mixing box has been increased on all models by approximately 40%. To accommodate the extra foam the skimmers now feature taller and wider reaction towers, as well.

    * Use of a ball valve is recommended to control water flow.

    Mag Drive 18 features:

    * Watts: 145

    * Pump Size (L x W x H): 6.4 x 4.5 x 4.6

    * Outlet Size / Inlet Size: 3/4in MPT / 3/4in FPT

  6. I'm looking to sell the following pieces of equipment. It is all disconnected from the system, cleaned, and ready for pickup. Thanks for looking!

    1. Korallin Calcium Reactor 1502 - This has everything you need for perfect calcium dosing: CO2 tank, reactor, solenoid, bubble counter, eheim pump, tubing, 2 aqualifter pumps (you only need one but I'll throw in two, what the heck). The CO2 tank is almost still full of co2. I also still have some reactor media that you can have. $425.

    2. Both for $375.

    3. AquaC EV-120 Protein Skimmer - Similar to the 240, but smaller. Also has the John Guest fitting so calcium reactor effluent can flow directly into it so that excess CO2 will blow off instead of lowering the pH of the system. $150.

    4. 100 Gallon Rubbermaid Stock Tank - These things are great for curing live rock, to use as sumps, refugiums, etc. Also only 6 months old. Cleaned out, ready to go. Super sturdy and durable. $60

    5. 300-Watt Heaters - Still holding up very well. $10 each. I have two of them. Perfect as a backup.

    6. Overflow - Bought used. Never used it myself. $15.

    7. Two Little Fishies Phosban Reactor - Perfect for Activated Carbon, Phosban, or any other type of media. $20.

  7. my guess is that it needs a good cleaning. take it apart, at least the housing for the propeller, and clean it out. sometimes there's a bunch of gunk in there that prevents the pump from getting started again. another suggestion would be to change the propeller. it might be worn out or broken. this has happened in both my mag drives and my maxi-jets. i've always been able to keep my pumps alive just by changing the propeller part. hope this helps. good luck!

  8. one reason why i like the refractometer is because you don't need much water to get a reading. just a couple of drops. this is really, really, helpful when it's not easy to fill the whole thing (i.e. hydrometer) with the water. and btw, i bought mine on ebay for like $24 including shipping. it works GREAT. SO much better than the hydrometer, IMHO.

  9. I went crazy culturing alot of phytoplankton over the last few weeks, and I have several extra 2-liter phyto bottles for sale. Rather than paying $20 for 16oz of DT's Phytoplankton, I figured people might want an entire 2-liter for $10 each. I think I have about 6 extra bottles, and they can be stored up to a month in the refrigerator as long as they are shaken up regularly (daily) to prevent the cells from settling to the bottom of the bottom. Otherwise they will smother each other and die.

    Phytoplankton is great for feeding soft corals, feather dusters, and clams, as well as the pod population in your tank & refugium. It has made my soft corals perk up, and micro-fauna in our tanks feed upon it. Dosing it every other day is sufficient, and will result in good pod growth in your reef for some fish such as wrasses and mandarins to feed upon. When feeding phytoplankton, Ive always turned off the protein skimmer for an hour to keep the food in the water longer. It also provides an important source of nutrition for clams, soft corals, tunicates, sponges and feather-dusters, as well as, zooplankton such as invertebrate larvae and copepods.

    If you want to trade me a frag for it, I'm open to that as well. Just let me know what you have.
