  1. Thanks FarmerTy. I'll probably keep an eye out at AquaTek for a healthy frogspawn or the like. Trying not to spend a ton of money all at once so may need to wait a few weeks. Hopefully the clowns will get more comfortable with the tank between now and then.

  2. Couple of question for you guys.

    1. Is it normal for these clowns to be constantly swimming back and forth between the floor and top of the tank? I am wondering if 10G is too small for them or if they are still not acclimated yet (in fairness its only been 24 Hours in my tank) They seem restless, I don't think they rested last night. Should I move up to a 20-30 Gallon?

    2. Is their constant activity normal?

    3. Should I try and get a frog spawn or other small tank friendly coral that may be something they can try and host/rest in?

This tank is only a few weeks old, just added a few corals, snails, hermit and these two clowns yesterday. I have decent movement between the 240GPH powerhead and the pump that came with the filter, my levels are all within a good range, water temp is about 79-80 degrees F.

Trying to start off slowly and keep it fairly simple. Eventually, I'll probably move to a larger tank but all my equipment recently bought was with a 10-15 G in mind (power head, heater, pump, light, etc.)

Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome back to the hobby! That looks like a great start!

We have a meeting coming up soon on the 13th from 12pm-2pm. Meeting topic is "How to Keep Acros" if you are able to attend.

This will be our second meeting this year as we don't have too many these days so please join up if you are available and interested.

Thanks for the reply FarmerTy. I'd really like to join y'all. Where's everyone meeting and what can I bring to pitch in?

  4. So I got into reef keeping about 6 years ago with my first ever tank. It was a 10G traditional tank and had it for approximately 10 months before having to break it down as we were selling our house. I loved it but don't think I did it for long enough to be able to say I'm not still a newbie  (even though technically, this will be my second tank)

I also had a good buddy who helped me get started by selling me a lot of coral frags for pennies on the dollar. I never realized how helpful that was as now, starting over, I have nothing but dry live rock in a tank full of water 🙂

I can't believe how fast the hobby has advanced in 5 years, it's crazy.

At any rate, wanted to say hi and am looking forward to getting to know you all and picking your brains over time.

It can be overwhelming with all the different methods, chemicals, refugiums, controllers, ATOs etc. I want to keep it as simple as possible, have a few SPS and a couple small clowns. Want to just have to feed the corals and do water changes as to avoid all the chem balancing.

Here's a few pics of my previous tank and a couple of my new build I just started cycling.
