  1. I'm there, and know how to use a seine. although personally I prefer the grass beds in the bay.

WOW! how did yall catch all that? did yall have a boat or was that just from the jettis?

We walked out to the end of the jetty and took nets (with the small holes) and head lamps. When you shine the flashlight into the water, you can see the peppermint shrimps red eyes glowing. They like to hang out around the edge of the rocks. It was pretty fun :yahoo:

This outing is great. I actually leaned toward seigning herbivores. Green Sailfin Mollies and Grass Shrimp (Ghost Shrimp) are usually abundant in the inland marsh. I would do this during daylight hours and need a second person to assist. If there is to be a campfire on the beach, I can operate a gas burner and boil crabs and/or shrimp. I like to do potaoes and corn as well as onions and a new entry is mushrooms. If this fits into the theme of things, I will bring some fishing gear as well. Once down there, I planned on staying for a few days.

    La bonne temp roulee.

  2. The Melanurus and checkerboard wrasse are of the same genus and body structure (more or less) and may (or may not, but probably will) fight. I usually have them at $30.00 won't have any in till next week (after the 7th) they got bumped from my order.

Currently I have sixline wrasse, checkerboard wrasse. They loves to eat arctic pods everyday..

what is rate the cost for Meanurus Wrasse?

Really, I think I have 5 red legs crabs, and about 15 ceriths snails and five astrea snails. I am sure I will feed them more to prevent Melanurus can nip or eat snails.

  3. Those are very hard to keep alive, I've tried a lot. I do have a couple of tiny solitare sea squirts (red or purple) that ocassionaly come in on rock that i could pass on to you.

A lot of them are fairly translucent. Not all. I have seen some that were opaque. There are surely hundreds if not thousands of tunicate species. Once I saw some purple ones in a lfs like the ones in the picture. I have been trying to find some more like that ever since.
  4. I love the melanurus wrasse (Halichoeres melanurus), although they can be a little nippy around shrimp and can eliminate a colony of pods in hours they're a great little fish and i usually try to keep them in stock. what other species of wrasse to you have?

    Howdy Reefers,

Anyone had experience with Melanurus Wrasse in your tank?

I think about the next fish shop for my tank. I attracted this fish and very colorful fish. I started falling in love with wrasse, because of their characteristic is very odd than other.

I wonder that fish is unavailable to find? I will try ask LFS to get one for me.

If I get one and there will be three wrasses in my tank and maybe few month later the next is Scott's fairy wrasse.

  5. I have GOT to get rid of a bunch of halimeda. Where is Deep Blue? I hadn't heard about you yet. I see you're on Burnet.
