  1. I've never had an issue and am wondering where I went wrong. I always use my 90 G display (+ 20 G sump) water to fill the QT tank. I leave a sponge in my main sump for about 2-3 weeks to build some bacteria, then I let it into my QT tank to start the cycle. I then wait about 3 weeks before putting anything into the QT tank, and remove the sponge at this time. I purchased a Yellow Tang last week, acclimated him properly and he has been in QT since. Now he is upside down, hanging on for dear life. I had to turn the filter off because he kept getting stuck on the inlet. My salinity, pH, etc are all where they need to be. Also check for ammonia, and zero. I did a 10% water change in the QT earlier using my 90 G water. What can, or should I do? Did I do something wrong, or how can I help him?

  2. Just did some research on the female bellus and you're right! I believe when I purchased the bellus, I had my eye on the singapore angel but found the 90 g was to small, must have just associated the singapore with the bellus. Thank you!

  3. I apologize for the quality of the picture, best I could get. I was told this was a Juvenile singapore angelfish, but after doing some more research... I started to second guess my self. Is this correct?

  4. The link is very helpful, thank you! I have a 90 g, with a 20 g sump. I know they say a yellow tang needs atleast 100 g, but I assumed the 90 g/20g sump would be adequate. Should I be concerned?

  5. I upgraded from a 55 to a 90 about a year ago and have been doing things INCREDIBLY slowly. I have a juvenlie blue singapore angelfish, as well as a new yellow tang. The tang is in QT right now, so I have a few questions. I currently feed my angelfish some mysis frozen shrimp every 3 days, as well as new life spectrum pellets. I have added some dried seaweed to the mix for the tang, as I know it's important to keep his belly full (to avoid ICH) and I want them to have some variety. My angelfish seems to do fine with the current mysis and pellets, but am wondering if I should consider different food, or more or a variety? The tang is not taking to the pellets, but is going after the seaweed (which i think is pretty normal). Tangs eat pretty much anything, but should i put some of the mysis is his QT tank since he is not taking to the pellets, and how much/how often? They are in the frozen cubes which I cut up as one whole cube is WAY to much for the one angelfish. Thanks for the help!

  6. Setting up my 10 gallon Quarantine tank, have 50 w heater, and a aqua clear filter. I plan on using water from my main tank, and put the foam sponge from the aqua clear in my sump (for about 3 weeks) so my Q tank wont have to cycle for several weeks. The filter also came with the carbon (which i dont plan on using), as well as biomax. Says the biomax provides optimal living conditions for beneficial bacteria. Should I throw that in my sump as well to get some bacteria building on that, to later have in my Q Tank... Or is it a bad idea to use that in the filter for my Q Tank? Would it remove medication in Q Tank water if I have to treat fish for any reason ? Also, I know foam sponges often build up nitrates if left in tank for to long. When I am not using my Q Tank, what should I do with the foam sponge? Leave it in my sump, and rinse out every week? Thanks!

  7. Newer to the hobby, but here's my 90 tank. Been up and running for a month and a half. Suggestions appreciated. grin.png !

    - 90 gallon RR Aqueon tank

    - 60 lbs live rock

    - 50 lbs live caribbean sand

    - Red Sea Coral Pro Salt

    - Aquaticlife 48" 4x54 T5 w/ 4 lunar LED light fixture

    - 2 Hydro Koralia Evolution 1400 GPH powerheads

    - 20 gallon L sump

    - 200 W heater

    - Mag 12 return pump

    - SRO 2000I protein skimmer

    - And an Aquaticlife RO/DI

Think that sums it all up. Any thing that I have left out, or should consider before adding livestock, let me know!

  8. Sorry, maybe I phrased that poorly. Just meant that the tank is RR, rather than a HOB overflow. I have my powerheads on the back wall, as the position on the ends of the tank, facing each other was causing the sand in the left side of my tank to blow up, thinking it may be because of the proximity of the overflow.

  9. In my 90 RR tank, with 20 G sump... I have 2 Koralia 1400 powerheads, as well as a Mag 12 sump pump. There is fairly good circulation through my tank, but is what I have enough? What benefits do a wavemaker have for my already 24/7 running powerheads have? Is the tank flow I have enough, and are 2 powerheads enough? Thanks!

  10. I have a 90 RR tank that has just finished it's cycle. It is a new upgrade from my previous 55 which I learned a lot with. I have never used a UV sterilizer, but am looking into getting one. How important is a UV sterilizer? And what brand, and wattage should I be looking into for a 90 gallon, with a 20 gallon sump. Thanks!

  11. I upgraded to an aqueon 90 gallon RR tank with the mega overflow. I have a 20 L gallon sump underneath. The set up is a 1" acrylic tube draining into first compartment with PS, over the baffles and into my return chamber with a Mag 5 through a 3/4" acrylic tube for return. Every minute or so the ratio of water in the main tank lessens allowing a lot of air to pass through the drain into my sump. This creates what I would imagine a seaworld leak sound to be, ha! Do I need a stronger return pump to keep the flow of water more consistent? Or perhaps a PVC fitting for the drain slowing down the rate of water coming into the sump? Is acrylic a bad idea for use in my sump? Thanks!

  12. Looking to sell my Aqueon 55 gallon tank, with pine stand. Standard Dimensions for tank, 48 x 13 x 20. Stand is 48 x 18. Had tank less than a year, is in great shape. NOT RR, but did really well with a HOB overflow. Asking $200. Live in North Central Austin, and looking to sell ASAP.

  13. So I am upgrading from my 55 to a 90. I used tap water and red sea salt mix to begin the cycle for the 55. The 55 I now empty as I wait for the 90 gallon tank. Am thinking I will begin a cycle of water in my 55 to add the water to my 90 gallon tank. Should I use tap water, red sea salt and maybe some sort of bacteria to start the cycle? Is there a better salt mix (that's affordable). Thanks.

  14. Looking to upgrade in size from my 55, to a 90/120. Selling my 55 G Black trim tank (48x13x20) , Black Oak stand (48x18), also can include 150 W heater, Eshoppes HOB overflow, hose to drain into sump, and a a 10 G sump (no baffles). The set up worked beautifully for me, it's less than a year old, cannot transport so buyer would have to pick up. Asking $300 for all listed.
