  1. I've done some research and can't seem to find anything on these eggs. Can anyone id them? I'm worried they belong to oenone fulgida, which could explain my dead snail count.

Sorry about the blurry pic. The egg case seems to have a tube attached.

    Thanks so much!!

  3. Thanks SO much for all of your help. I believe the red gunk was there when I purchased the live rock. We simply got a pair of tweezers and really gently pulled it off. Everything looks good now. We will keep checking all levels, but for now everything is hunky-dory.

Thanks again for all of your advice!

The cyano I have dealt with had to be siphoned out - I could've never pulled it out with tweezers which makes me think maybe you were removing coralline algae -- my coralline starts off red and then turns pink. :)

  4. I may have misspoke when I said membrane - I just bought an extra filter (the top horizontal part - if that's the membrane) of a 3 part diagonal system. The tds meter can read in and out. Normally in is 175 - I haven't checked it yet, I will and report back. :)

  5. Hey there!! Have a quick question regarding a recent TDS reading on my RODI water. Normally it's 0 or 1, but yesterday it was 21. Does this mean I should change the membrane? (I do have a spare ready.) The unit has been live since February.

Also, I thought Mark posted something about TDS going up in Texas water due to the draught, but I couldn't find it.

Is 21 water still ok to use?

    Much thanks!!

  6. Nope, there wasn't any reaction. All of the mantle was withdrawn. It may have already been dead yesterday. Put it in a corner of the tank overnight - it was definitely dead this morning.

Did a lot of research yesterday, didn't find any pyramid snails and really wasn't sure what that black thing was...was hoping someone heard of a slug or something that burrows into the shell.

  7. I think my clam is dying :) I noticed what looked like a sea slug on the side of it's shell - are there burrowing sea slugs? It was black with what appeared to be two antenna - if I tried to get near it with tweezers, it would retract. At first I thought it might be part of the clam because it would expel long, stringy, clear stuff - could it be part of the clam? (I doubt it, but figured I'd ask)

I tried moving the clam up to a rock, it was descending it's foot at that point, but my **** cleaner shrimp started to go to town on it. Right now I've got it floating in a plastic container in the tank.

    Advice?

Yes, I did stop by the store for some more wine...

    :(

  8. I live South East Austin and can deliver or meet at aquadome or downtown.

I really tried to find something because delivery downtown was so freaking appealing, unfortunately my tank is full now - I need a bigger tank! :D

  9. I used my water right away without discarding any. No ill effects were suffered. (I did flush the carbon block, however ;) )

Actually, I think I did discard the first gallon as per instructions...

  10. I had planaria at one point and then they all disappeared. I think my watchman goby ate them - I saw him eat a baby bristleworm the other day. (That actually concerned me, because it irritated his gills.) He'll eat anything, I've named him Mikey.

    Thanks all!!

I got home and noticed he wasn't actually attached to the rock like I first thought, but a shell underneath the rock - WIN!!!

I put him on a large frag plug, hoping he'll attach to that. (He's a wee little clam, the frag plug is almost as big as him.) Will move him to a rock after attachment :) What looks like brown on him is actually algae on the glass, I have to clean it.

    Nice Maxima - wow!!

  12. Picked up this little crocea over the weekend. Had him positioned next to this rock so that he faced upwards (see photo). Now he's somewhat horizontal and has attached to the side of the rock – eep! (Discovered this when I tried to move him in a more vertical position) I didn't realize he would attach horizontally or so quickly. Will he be ok horizontal? If not, it's probably safer to relocate that toadstool coral, but what is the best way to do that? Do I just cut the coral's base and reattach it elsewhere? (I've never fragged anything.) Do you think if I put another rock under the clam, he'd attach to that instead?

    Thanks for all your help!!

  13. Thank you!!!!

After trying in vain with some type of tool, I decided to ask a man. He got it open, in the exact way you described and I didn't even have to tell him!

    Amazed :hmm: ,

p.s. there was a free t-shirt in that bucket too - it's like Cracker Jacks, but for Reefnuts!
