  1. ...

So, I guess I'll keep an eye on it.

I'll report back in a few months just in case anybody is curious.

    Thanks,

    Brett

It grew slowly and eventually bulldozed my clavularia.

So, it had to go. Some it peeled off like wet paper.

But a good bit of it had to be scrapped off carefully.

Too bad. I thought it was kinda pretty.

  2. Count me in....

    Bluespotted Red Mushrooms (Discosoma sp.)

    Small: 2”-3” $ 49.99 - 10% = 44.99

    total: 84.98

    Thanks Mark.

ps. Do you have a contact at vivid that can confirm the spotted mushrooms really do look like the photo? If they'll do a WYSIWYG, I'll pay the extra 10%. (Assuming they really do look like the photo.)

  3. I have a frag of fluorescent green mushrooms.

They don't look all that great w/ my lights when on the bottom.

There's a photo of the mother colony closer to the lights that show how they look under better lighting conditions.

Will trade or just give away.

I also have a hemisphere of galaxia. It's about 5 in. across.

It's been happy the entire time I've had it (4 mo.).

But, it's too big for my tank and I don't like the look of it just sitting there in the sand.

Warning: It puts out 4 in. sweepers.

    I paid $60+.

Will take $40 obo or trade for something nice.

Will bring to meeting if there's any interest.

I plan to be there around 11.

    But, can't stay long.

    Brett

ps. I'm a n00b and this is my 1st meeting! Yea!

  4. Thanks for the help.

You are correct. It's a macro algae.

    Specifically, Lobophora Variegata.

There are some reports of it taking over.

And other reports of it simply going away.

So, I guess I'll keep an eye on it.

I'll report back in a few months just in case anybody is curious.

    Thanks,

    Brett

  5. Could be diatoms. Is there a lot of flow going between the polyps or is it in a stagnant area?

PS: Awesome clove polyps. I love those things.

There is flow over this rock. The polyps sway about. But, probably not all that strong of flow down between the polyps.

ps. Yeah. It was love at first sight for me.

  6. Looks like it could be cyanobacteria, but it seems like a strange location for it. Are there any other places that it is located? and don't worry about asking questions everyone here need info sometimes.

This was a HH on this rock. There's one other smaller patch on the same rock.

  7. Hi All,

I've had this coral for a month or so and it's doing great.

But, there's this brown/green "film" on the rock.

It looks like a tree fungus.

It has a distinct edge to it.

I think it's growing (but, I'm not certain).

And I'm not sure if it's harmful.

Does anybody recognize this thing growing between my polyps?

    Is it safe?

    Thanks,

    Brett

ps. I kinda hate to spam the "Reef Keeping" group with this n00b stuff. Is there any need for a new forum called "Identification Help"?

  8. I have a mandarin goby I am wanting to trade. I have tried to get him to take prepared food and he will not. My tank is not big enough for him to get enough to eat so I would like to trade him. I am looking for coral frags, a koralia 1, or maybe even the fish plus cash for a 150 watt metal halide. Anyone have anything send me your offer. Thanks!!!

    I have nothing to trade.

However, I would like to suggest you try frozen cyclopeze for your mandarin. I tried many many foods w/o success. And my mandarine was slowly starving to death. I bought cyclopeze for a new sun coral and much to my surprise the mandarin was pecking away. Now he's on the road to recovery. (And everybody in the tank loves it. Corals and fish.)

Good luck w/ the trade and with mandarin
