You guys are awesome, thank you for all the response
Temp update – House 78 & water 82.8
what kind of equipment do you have inside the tank/sump – 2 x Aqua Clear 50 hang on back filter & 1 x Hydor Koralia powerheadif you have powerheads, make sure they are not running hot...if they are they may just need a good cleaning – Will check that when I get home
What pumps are you running? I've had some older ones that started to put out a ton of heat compared to when they were new. If you've never had problems in the past, I would look at the equipment that could possibly put out more heat as it ages. – Will check the powerhead & filters tonight

Thank you for your response Capt. Obvious, I have answered your questions in red below.
I assume you have no heater - No heater
What is the temperature in the house like - Day 78 and night 74
outside wall? inside wall?" any direct sunlight exposure? Inside wall & no direct sunlight
t8 lighting shouldn't put off a ton of heat...are the ballasts warm? I have not taken the hood apart to feel the ballast but I can try that tonight
I assume you mean 8hrs and not years - Yes you are correct 8 hrs
also check with another thermometer to ensure it is not just a bad reading - Checked the thermometer yesterday with another one & both had the same temp reading

Thank you all for the advice, I guess I will give it a shot. I do have a couple of questions.
Do I need to keep the water circulating for the fist while they are in a bucket?
I was under the impression I have to use all of the old water, is that correct?

Honestly I am new to the hobby & I am just nervous about screwing it up

Can anyone recommend someone in Austin who offers a tank moving service? I have tried getting information from Kingfish & Sea Clearly but they have not returned my emails or phone calls. I need to get the tanked moved on Saturday morning. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
It is a 33 gallon tank & both houses are only 10 miles apart. Does anyone know what it might roughly cost as well?

I have have not changed anything with the lighting, I added some pH buffer Monday afternoon & I am going to check it again today. I have had the Xenia for about 6 months and the problem just started, I did recently add a heater & have it set @ 78.
-
I did a water test & the only thing that was off a little was the pH
Nitrite - 0 ppm
Ammonia - 0 ppm
nitrate - 0 ppm
pH - 8.0

Sorry for the bad pic, but can anyone tell me what is wrong with the Xenia? It does not seem to pulsate any longer & it looks like it is about to detach from the rock.

It looks like my Yellow Tang is struggling to survive. I have tested the water and everyting looks ok. Any suggestions?

We were able to scrape off some of it with my finger nail - it was dry & flakey.

I am new to the hobby and the recent cooler weather made me wonder what is the best water temp for a Saltwater tank? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am insterested in some of the small rocks w/ zoas & other types of polyps. I am in Wells Branch & I can come pick them up afer the UT game. Please let me know what time will work good for you.

I am fairly new to salt water tanks and I need some advice on algae. I have a 33ga tank that has been running for roughly two months. I have some live rock, mushrooms, xenia, 2 peppermint shrimp, 1 clown fish & 1 Yellow Tang. I first started to get a brown algae all over the live sand, some of it went away but then I started to notice in the back of the tank that the algae was turning a reddish color. Then two days ago a notice in the front a small patch of a blackish algae but this algae had as my son explains it "little hairs" growing from it. I did a water test and everything was perfect & I am doing a 10% water change every two weeks.
Is this normal or do I have a problem on my hands? If this is a problem, how can I fix it? If this is normal, how much longer will this last?

Temp update
Removed the glass and added a small fan. Ran the fan from 5:00 pm to 11:30 pm and the temp dropped a couple of degrees. This morning currently the tank is 75.7 & the house is 78. Going keep an eye on it today without the fan and see how it does.
Thanks again for everyones help!!
