  1. Murphy's law at it's finest aint it ROn? I'm glad to see you found the forum. The people here are definitely a special group. I had a chance to see Ron's tank when it was up and running and it was definitely a testament to his love and passion for the hobby.

  2. My $.02, which is exactly what it is worth.

I think the club and the forum are too small to support having multiple sections. By keeping everything here, you get to see everyone's tanks, from the big guys to the small guys. I think we will lose out somewhat if we separate things up too much because people won't venture out to all the sections. Plus I think the group is small enough and nice enough that all tanks, no matter the size or quality, are welcome here in the main section. Part of what makes this club is the closeness of the members, and I fear separate forums will affect that.

  3. 1. AEFW only lay eggs on dead parts of the coral. This doesn't mean they are limited to the base of the coral, they will lay on any part of a coral that is dead, like the pic. In case you don't notice them they are in the center of the pic down in the hole that was eaten by the flat worms. So in other words the entire coral needs to be inspected. Its really hard to inspect these out of the water and notice the eggs. I hold it underwater and bring it right up to the glass and use a flash light to look.

I thought the eggs was what causes that part of the coral to die. They release a chemical that reacts with the coral tissue causing necrosis.

I don't think so because if this were the case they would lay eggs all over the coral. In most instances they are laid at the base of the coral in the receding area or on the rock that its mounted too. There would be patches of eggs all the way to the tip of the coral if they were able to lay them anywhere.

The reason eggs are laid on the base of the coral is due to the safety it provides. Predators such as wrasses and nudibranchs are kept at bay from the base of the coral due to the thick coral growth. The eggs are also safe from intense amounts of flow that can potentially knock them loose as well.

  5. Francis...thank you so much for letting Vinh (celebrity overnight) in for a purchase even though you were already closed. I know it was close to 8:15...I sent him over earlier, but he got lost. He wanted to give it a try to see if he could beat the clock, and thank goodness you were still there and willing to let him in. He really needed the supplies you sold him. Thank You....

Laura you beat me to it. I was just about to post but you already got here lol. Anyways, thank you so much Francis for the help. I know you wanted to get out of there, but thanks for sticking back and helping me out. It was very much appreciated.

  6. what dorm allows a tank big enough for a skimmer? Simkins? (i think they changed the name because he was a KKK grand master or some sh*t). If i remember from my (recent) college days the max was 10 gallons for most dorms. just wondering

Sorry location hasn't been updated for some time. I live near campus now, not in the dorms.

  7. I just upgraded skimmer so I won't be needing this skimmer anymore. It works amazingly well. Comes with skimmer body+gen-x pump with mesh mod. The pump was purchased last year and works phenomenal. Here are some pictures of the skimmate production and bubbles. These pictures were after running the skimmer for 2 days. Tank was medium stock and fed very sparingly. Asking $150 OBO

  9. Hi, I live on the corner of nueces and MLK. I'm about to setup my tank and could probably use some of the equipment/livestock you have for sale. Do you mind if I come take a look of what you have sometime? Thanks
