Bill B
So I just turned the lights on and I'm just kinda looking things over and suddenly - Did I see that rock move? I watch it for a minute and sure enough it lifts up about 1/8" or less, very smooth like a snail and when something comes close it hunkers down quickly again. One time it closed with enough force that the whole little rock its sitting on, moved slightly. I havent tried to touch it or pick it up. I havent had any clean up or the like, yet, and the only thing I have seen are a couple the little tiny shell-less snails(?). Sorry tmi. Yes it's that coraline covered 'rock right in the middle of the picture. Looks a little like a petrified cicada. Guesses? Bill
Timfish
Cool! It's a clam, great filter feeders. That species is relatively common on maricultured live rock. from Florida or the Caribbean.
Bill B
Hey thanks, I can kinda see it now. I had not noticed that in the picture it is slightly open. Most of the time it is not.
