Vernon Saunders
Hey all, I just got a pair of the VCA RFG... however I underestimated how tough loc line is to take apart. Anyone have the tool designed to loc line I can borrow or know of another tool I can use to take them apart so I can install the RFGs?
jolt
I always just heat the parts up under hot water and then I can work with them without special tools

jolt
I just use hot out of the tap. Expands things enough that its easier to work with. It's worth a try, but not sure how it will work in your situation.

Vernon Saunders
As far as I know there is a tool for 1/2 in loc line and 3/4 in loc line... course the actual width of the 3/4 in line is about 1 inch in OD so it might be the right tool. Vernon Saunders
So I just found something new out... Not sure how the previous owner managed this but apparently they mashed together lock line and snap lock pieces to make the return Y joint... Since the RFG are designed for Loc line only... they are pretty plastic paperweights at the moment. I am going to just replace all the line so that I know it is good. Can't help but think that this is about my luck with this tank so far... mainly cause it isn't the first weird thing I found and had to fix. Will update a picture after I replace the line and install the RFG. I appreciate the assistance.
