Jimbo662
So, started breaking down my 45g for my move and went to empty the ATO container and found this in the bottom!!!!! No idea how it got there or when it could have fallen in. I'm planning to use the rock from the tank in a new tank. Is there something I can to to the rock prior to it going into the next tank? Christyef
Following along. I’ve got a hose clamp in my sump to hold my return line on the pump that has of course rusted.... but my tank seems to be doing great. We use ferrous oxide in the dual reactors.... Timfish
Making your own GFO or supplementing iron for algae? Over the years I've found the remains of paper clips, razor blades, pencils, a tape measure and screws in my tanks when I've moved them. I've also found iron bits in mud products with magnets. Never had any indication they caused problems. I wouldn't recommend doing this but one author I've read speculated about using steel wool to control PO4.
