Gig 'em @ NDstructible
If it's turf algae, good luck! I had that stuff in my old tank and I would try and remove it by hand, added several urchins and hermits, and it was a losing battle for months. I finally broke the tank down, cooked the rock in acid, and started over. Haven't had any issues since then. Hopefully yours will recede on its own
mFrame
Physical removal, urchins, and water changes were the key to reversing it's progress for me.
Juiceman
I'm officially fishless as of 6/3Sand in the trap totally worked! My current QT process isn't working well to kill the brook. They look great after a dip but always look bad again during the long term bath.I think I need to dip them more frequently.Tank is feeling the woes of not having fish. My regular algae is dying but the green algae is growing pretty fast.I may try some new snails or crabs to get it under control.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
FarmerTy
Glad you finally caught them all out. Ever thought to try treatment with chloroquine phosphate instead of copper?
Juiceman
Glad you finally caught them all out. Ever thought to try treatment with chloroquine phosphate instead of copper?I'm using formalin which is the recommended treatment for brook. There a are several schools of thought on how treatment should be carried out and I think I need a more aggressive plan as this one isn't working Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
FarmerTy
Oh sorry, was for some reason thinking copper. So your old fish aren't being cured of brook with the current method?
Juiceman
Oh sorry, was for some reason thinking copper. So your old fish aren't being cured of brook with the current method? Nope.... they look good after the dip but it always comes back. What I'm thinking is I need to dip, then put them in New water/tank, give them a day then repeat, and do that a few times. FarmerTy
That seems reasonable to not put them back in the same water or tank after the dip.
Reburn
Are you putting them back in the same water after the dip?

Gig 'em @ NDstructible
Makes sense to me to just start with all new bulbs. Less hassle down the road
FarmerTy
Use them for 3 more months, then change. Why change prematurely? Replacement schedule is based on daily "on time" of 9-12 months, if you didn't use it for 3 months, why change it early?
