FarmerTy's 215 gallon - No Water Changes SPS Tank

The big move day was yesterday. Me and the following awesome people, Juiceman and his girlfriend, Gig'em, Bobcatreefer, Jolt, Isaac, Jimbo, Sascha, TheOceanTraveler, and Harleyguy came over and under the promise of pizza, beer, and not having to move a tank... They gave up their Saturday mornings to help me move everything over. I wish I had more pictures to slow you guys but I was a little busy coordinating and elbow deep in saltwater to snap much.

Here's after the damage was done.

Here's where the fish decided to hole up for a bit while I figured out how to put their home back together.

This is how it looked 12 hrs later... I can at least say that the plumbing was finalized, the sump hooked up and running, my Apex connected to the internet, and my calcium reactor hooked back up for supplementation purposes. Don't judge otherwise... It was a long day and I'm running off of vapors these days of sleep and not even steam anymore. [emoji25]

I transported the corals and rock without water and just wet packing paper and wrapped everything. Fish were bagged individually where possible and a small group were transported together in a large cooler.

The sump was taken out mostly intact and placed into the new setup and plumbed.

I'll throw up more pictures of the inhabitants soon as I start sorting through the mess of broken frags and aquascaping. There are corals stuffed into every possible nook and cranny in my tank, sump not excluded either. [emoji4]

Hey Ty what did you attatch your pannels to the frame with again?

Rare earth neodymium magnets sunk into the plywood and glued in place for the bottom and side panels.  They were super strong, like pinch my fingers in the board strong.

The top front panel was installed into the ceiling and had euro cabinet hinges to open and close it.

Is that LA Lakers turbinaria I see prominently in the center of your dedicated photogenic frag rack?

Hey Jolt,

That's just my regular yellow scroll coral.  I never owned the LA Lakers tubinaria but part of me always suspected it was just a yellow scroll coral under bluer lights.  Interior non-growing edges develop the brownish coloration which reflects the blue light decently well and could make that exact piece look yellow and purpleish.  Just my theory though so I never bothered collecting the LA Lakers tubinaria.  Maybe someone who's had it can chime in.

Here's mine with a touch of blue light and it could almost look purple/yellow if I subjected it to more blue light.

So my tank has recently hit what I would call a mature state after its one year mark.  Consumption of alk/ca has been pretty stable lately, everything in the tank is happy, colors are about 90% back now versus 70% a couple months ago.

Its hard to describe but you can just see it in the health of the coral.  Flesh looks great on the acros and you can see little growing terminal ends on just about every piece in the tank.

With this also comes the major growth phase of a mature tank.  Once it hits its stride, you'll be rewarded with amazing growth.

Here's 2-2.5 months of growth on the first two pieces and 1.5 months on the small frag.  Growth rates have just exploded in the last couple of months and its been great to see that again after weathering the move and the 1st ups and downs until the tank is mature.

1.5 to 2 mos growth?  Wow, that makes my progress picks look like I'm going backward.  Very nice.

Is "Coral Envy" a clinical term?

Your growth has been great Scott!  Wait until your tank hits its full stride.  Acros grow at an amazing rate that I don't think most people realize.  Frags can be large colonies in a year depending on type.

So right now I'm a "grower" and not a "shower".       🤣

My "high end" monti collection... I have a problem!

Left to right:

ECC Brain Freeze
Z's Dream
JF Altered Ego
WWC Kung Pao
BigR Freak Nasty
JF Beach Bum

I'm thinking about adding the RR Crazy T but on the fence about it.  I feel it looks similar to my Z's Dream.f95da5ef99f39ac3749eda7e41fb7797.jpg

Now we get our sneak peak.  Jk. Looking good

I've been hiding in shame with my montis whispering to them... The other reefers just won't understand our love... We have to keep it between ourselves okay?
