Magnesium Use, is this possible?

Magnesium binds with calcium carbonate in our tanks and is used to allow us to keep higher levels of CA and Alk. So I think it's possible that boosting CA will lower Mg until a balance is achieved.

Yup, it's seems counter intuitive but adding some new calcium carbonate can initially lower the calcium and or magnesium readings. Keep testing it over the next few days and you should see it rebound without adding anything.
