ARC Divers?

Howdy folks. I was talking to Dan the other day about scuba. Both Dan and his wife are recently certified and I got my certification in February. We discussed the idea of arranging an ARC dive trip sometime. I thought I'd throw it out there and see what kind of interest there is.

So, who would be interested in going, and how far would you be willing to travel? Now that Southwest flies to Mexico it opened the door to several inexpensive diving destinations...

My schedule is usually pretty crazy, but you can put me on the list of interested at least. There's also flower garden, but it typically requires booking on a liveaboard, unless you like 200+ miles of travel on the water per day...

I would be interested depending on timing and expense.

I would also like to suggest diving in Utila. My GF and I got certified and our advanced certification at Altons in utila. Great people and great diving. They even give you a place to stay if you buy dive trips from them. Not the nicest accommodations but its free and fun. When we went we met a couple that rented a house for 10 days and they paid $1000 for the entire stay, they said the house could easily sleep 10 people. The only down side to Utila is that most of the people we met there had gone for a quick vacation and never left.

One of my all time favorite trips and totally itching to go back!

I would LOVE to go on a dive trip!! But money-wise, it's just not going to happen this year. Hopefully in 2017. If you're a newer diver, I'd suggest making a few dives in Lake Travis or Blue Lagoon just to brush up and get more comfortable before going somewhere nice. That way you can fully enjoy the good diving and not be worried about equipment, buoyancy, or being comfortable in the water. If people are interested in a few murky Lake Travis dives this spring/summer, let me know.

I did my certification at Spring Lake (used to be called Aquarena Springs). It's just down the road and is the closest thing to clear water ocean diving that I've seen in freshwater.

If anyone is interested in joining the Aqua Corps it would be a way for us to dive locally to stay in practice without a huge expense.

We did our open water in a 65 foot deep, 95 degree hot springs crater in Utah. No fish, but extremely cool if anyone ever makes it out that way. It's called the homestead crater, close to Park City.

Shyeaaah! I think I may have dropped this idea at the last beer:30 meeting... But my wife and I dove Puerto Rico for my birthday. Cheap SW flight and we were able to use hotel points for our stay and car rental. Caribbean diving will never be good as S. Pacific diving, but it's still good for the price and convenience

I'd love to do the Aqua Corps, maybe we can do it as a group? I've only got a 3mm wetsuit right now, would need to rent or buy a thicker one for this!

Only if I pick up a 7mm wetsuit...

No Joke!!

That place looks beautiful! Reminds me of a place my family went (without me when I was in college) in Missouri I think, called Bon Terre Mine maybe?
