Hi There my name is Francie and I live in Austin, TX I had salt water tanks for about thirty years up until about 5 yrs ago when my healt was such I had to part with everything. Well I will never be able to go back to my 75 gallon type tank. So I now just aquired a 24 gal tank I am just starting to set up. I know I cannot get much in such a small tank but would like to know where in Austin I can get some nice live rock that I will not have to cure. I have not even put the water in yet (smile) but thinking ahead.

Thank you and would like to hear some suggestions for a small tank.

Francie

Hi Francie! Welcome to the club and back to reefing!

You can find liverock in almost any of the local fish stores (LFSs) and sometimes you'll see members selling some on the forum.

Here's a link to the local fish stores if you aren't familiar where they are.

Welcome. Most of us keep / have kept nano size tanks so if you have anything specific you need help with, there's plenty of experience with them.

Only suggestions compared to keeping a 75 is take everything much slower. It's way easier to create an imbalanced system in a small tank. Stock and feed lightly and make sure to stick to a good maintenance schedule.

Francie I'm in the process of breaking down my 29g biocube right now. I should have some really nice base live rock that would not need to be cured. Once I sell off my coral and fishes I'd sell you mine at a very reasonable rate for primo stuff (Real Reef). It probably won't be enough to fully stock your tank, but it would be a great start and reduce your startup cost quite a bit.
