F'ing drivers

Just a rant here, but this stupid kid ran into my parents this weekend up near round rock. Their entire towing mount and trailer hitch and ball is somewhere in the engine compartment.

He was entering an on-ramp onto a busy interstate at about 100 mph. There were more than 80 feet of skid marks before he hit my parents. Bent both sides of the frame on their truck, destroyed the bed, and sent them more that 100 feet into the ditch. They got launched so far, the police couldn't believe they were part of the same accident. After hitting them, he bounced into the interstate causing an additional 9 car accident, about 6 of these vehicles were likely totalled. 1 car ended up being significantly t boned with 3 kids in the back seat. By dumb luck nobody was seriously injured.

Anyway, I drive a fast car but this sort of crap just pisses me off. Such unnecessary recklessness could have killed multiple people including a dad and all of his children...

Honda. Ricer kid. Not even a fast car. Wonder how he made it to 100mph in that POS.

Glad your parental units are alright and now the rice burner doesn't have a car which is good. But those types are the ones funded my mommy and daddy anyways. Shame.

Got the police report today. I don't know if the police officer just couldn't put it all together, but I don't think I could make a less accurate description of the situation if I tried. I'm actually amazed they could file an official document that is pretty much 100% inaccurate in the cause and effect and the chronology of the whole event.

Somehow the vehicle that got hit first, ours, is listed as the one who got hit last. The vehicle that caused the wreck is listed as the second to last and was apparently just avoiding the same wreck that he actually caused. This is a time warp report.

Now to add to frustration you probably get to deal with some cut rate insurance company for the settlement.

Last person that rear ended me had e-surance and it was a real nightmare. The body shop did not know how to deal with e-surance, and half the time e-surance would not answer their phone. Body shop ended up holding my car even after it was finished until they had a check in hand from e-surance.

Good luck and glad everyone was OK.

Actually our insurance company has been nails in dealing with the other driver's company. My wife was rear ended at a stop light about 2 years ago. The other driver's insurance started to play a really aggressive this price this shop nonsense game with us. Our insurance company told us never to talk to the other drivers company, they handle it completely. I don't know if they do the same thing if they're dealing with the shop, but so far has been smooth.

We used esurance for a while about 10 years ago. They were actually really good at the time before some larger company purchased them. Complete mess after that. Wouldn't even consider them again.

We lucked out and the truck frame isn't twisted. It had 45 degree downward bends though, just behind the rear leaf brackets. Another 2 inches and it would have been totaled.

There were no injuries in other vehicles as well, looking at the report. Lot of dumb luck floating around that day.
