Here are my temporary quarantine tanks I'm setting up.

They are two 40 gallon breeders and a 20 gallon long. Also have an existing 55 gallon.

Each will have a heater, hob filter, hob skimmer, clip on LED and a powerhead. Will add a few pieces of live rock and PVC as well.

Will dose 3 weeks of PraziPro if no signs of disease pop up.

This next round of quarantine will be:

- Black Tang (20 Gallon)

- Purple Tang (40 Gallon 1)

- Chevron Tang (40 Gallon 2)

- Flame Wrasse Pair (40 Gallon 2)

- Flame Angel (40 Gallon 1)

- Potter's Angel (40 Gallon 2)

- Yellow Tang (55 Gallon)

- Yellow Bellied Blue Tang (55 Gallon)

- Black Ice Clownfish (55 Gallon)

Will be placing my order for fish at the end of next week.

you know, i took a lot of flak when i added rock and sand to my QT. "a QT is supposed to just be glass and maybe a filter so that the rock wont get inflected" said a few picky, over technical, snot heads who shall remain nameless (since i forgot your who said it). that's why i started calling my observation tank. just a warning. :). i'm pretty sure things would have gotten sick if anything expected me to do daily water changes for the 9 months my OT has been running :).

awesome setup.

May I ask why you are QTing a clownfish in a 55g and a Black Tang in a 20g? It seems you should do those reverse.....

The 55 is existing with those fish in it for years :)

Yeah they are more observation tanks. Only plan on running Prazi in them.

As I was reading your equipment list, I was going, "Wow...Wow...WOW..." These big tanks are always so impressive. Then I think about the water changes and I'm glad to have my little tanks again. lol

Water changes are going to be automated :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Just got my Purple Tang into quarantine.

Ended up finding a smaller 3", which is perfect since my Yellow is a bit larger and Black should be larger as well.

After a few hours in darkness, he's happy now. Swimming around and not shy at all. Already picking on some live rock I put in the tank.

Hopefully my other fish aren't held up much longer. Seems to be a little shortage on Black Tangs right now. Should be this week or next when more come in...

  • 3 weeks later...

Just added the Black, Purple, Yellow and Yellow Bellied Blue Tangs to the tank.

They are busy checking each other out right now. The Tomini didn't really swim with them much. He seems to be coming around more.

Chevron went out of quarantine and into my old display tank with a Black Ice Clown to finish it's PraziPro treatment. Had a bit of a delay when I had to treat it for a bite.

That black tang looks amazing

Thanks man, here's a pic of them together...

Also, looks like the Tomini might be the aggressor, saw it body check the Purple and Yellow Tangs. It was there first for a few months, probably territorial.

Tried to add three rocks with nori this morning, to break up some of the aggression between the Tomini and the other tangs.

Naturally all the tangs flocked over to the rock closest to where the Tomini hangs out first... lol
