For those of you who don't already know, Pappadeaux's serves some great fresh oysters on the half-shell.

One dozen nice-sized oysters....$3.95!

I though the waiter made a mistake on the check, but he said that is what keeps people coming back. Good marketing move, we'll be back this weekend!

FYI, oyster season ends in April and doesn't start back up until September/October.

Mini anemone? ID

Ok so I want to appologize in advance my camera is still crapped. But this has been driving me nuts.

This has been in my tank for around 8 months. The largest one is about 1cm in size when expanded and doesn't look like its going to get any bigger. It ressembles an anemone in everyway par one, its nocturnal and grow in the shade. They have cherry red bases and are clear with white tipped tentacles and has a mouth. I have no idea what conditions suit it but it is slowly growing in my tank and I have 2 definates with mouths and some "babies" around them. I have been searching many sights and haven't heard so much as a peep about them. I will get pictures ASAP but can anyone id or post a pict off my discription?

sulfur dioxide!

My closed loop went down about a month ago when the motor on my OM Super Squirt burned out. I just got the replacement motor today, installed it and restarted the CL. You could IMMEDIATELY smell the sulfur from the water that had stagnated in the pipes while the CL was shut down. I just did a full changeout of my carbon, and I've got good aeration from the overflow, skimmer and surface agitating K4s. What else can I do to prevent a full carpet-bombing of my tank from the sulfur dioxide?

Im planning on starting a Macroalgae planted tank housing a dwarf octopus (o. mercratoris*) .

Tank: 16gal bowfront (rimless) & drilled on the left glass pane for inflow and out flow (it sits in the corner of my desk).
Sump: 20 gallon tank under the desk with 400-500 gph return pump (i dont want to have any power-heads or cords leading into the display)
Skimmer: BakPak (left over from the old tanks i had in highschool), will be placed insump or hanging onto the sump
Mechanical Filtration: Filter sock
heater: 100w
lighting: 96w powercompact (Quad)

Overflow: http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ctl3684/cp18656/si1380638/cl0/lifegardaquaticsformerlypentair34slipbulkhead
Return flow: 1/2" bulkhead with a verticle spray bar with holes drilled up and down it. there will be about 3 feet from the return pump to where it will go into the tank.

I also plan to get a sheet of glass or acrylic cut to cover the entire top of the tank.

Live rock: 5-10lbs in the display & 15lbs in the sump
Sand: live 20-25lbs for a 2-3" sand bed

Quick querstion:

I am starting a reef tank and I was wondering if it is ok to catch shrimp in the ocean and transport them to my tank?
I live in Austin as was thinking about the summer vacation at the beach. So say a 4-5 hour drive....easy to set up a bubbler for the ride home but has anyone here tried this an did you have any problems?
I am guessing it would be mostly shrimp maybe a few other things if i catch something interesting in a throw net.
The beach for reference would be anywhere from Galvaston to Corpus Cristi....not sure where yet

I feel your icy hands creeping up my spine. I know you are going for my throat. I try to stop you, but you keep persisting. I try to tear away, but your grip is strong. I ask for help. I see others reaching out. Yet, you are still there every time I turn around. I try to run, but just get tired. I look you in the eye and tell you to leave. Just when I think it is over, right back in you come. I wish I could kill you but you’re not really there. You are the dark side of me. I hate that I am your slave. I will keep trying to break the chains even though I know it will take stronger hands than mine. Yet, if I stop trying I know you will win. That CANNOT happen!

I went to Kona Grill for the first time last Friday. The first thing I saw was a big Blue Regal Tang. It was awesome. One of the things I noticed about their simulated reef tank (I saw simulated because they have fake coral) is that they have fish in there that are not reef safe. I will give them credit for having one of my favorite fish, a Dragon Wrasse.

What is everyone's opinion of fake coral?

Source for Hardware for RO/DI Installation?

I am moving my RO/DI Unit to the garage, but the hardware that came with the unit only came with the items to install it under the sink or permanently to a pvc pipe. My thoughts were to use a y-splitter with a hose bib connected to the cold water line of my washer. Y-splitters come in brass and zinc. Will one of these materials be a better choice over the other? Also, I went to the hardware store with no luck on finding the correct adapter to go from a hose thread to 1/4" tubing. Has anyone seen this adapter in town or online? I have attached a picture of the adapter below. Thanks.

Reef Book Recommendations?

Hi,
I'm new to the hobby. I bought a tank that was somewhat established, FOWLR, and had it moved about two weeks ago. The original owner did not really maintain it that well and I am just getting my parameters to stabilize a bit after the move. I am planning on letting the tank settle for probably 6 more weeks or so before I add anything. I was just wondering if anyone could recommend some good books in the meantime. Something extremely comprehensive would be ideal. Also I am interested in getting into SPS down the road so any good recommendations on SPS specific books would be appreciated as well. Thanks!
