      The heads will come out during feeding you can train it to open up during the day

      Mine didn't open for the longest time before I realized they only opened up at night. I started feeding them pellet fish food and they grew fast

      I'm using my T5 for supplement only for 3 halides so I'm using ATI actinics. May adjust with some blue plus. Used a mix of ATI bulbs in the old tank.

      Im using 4xt5 for primary lighting over the zoa tanks. Blue+, Purple+, Coral+, True Actinic.

      Very blue, but I like it that way, and the reproduction of my zoas doubled since installing the Coral+ bulb.

    best way to change from crushed coral to sand?

      In those size tanks I would take the reverse path. Carefully siphon all the water out and save it. Carefully remove the rock and livestock. Then just remove all the crushed coral. Replace with dry never been used or pre-seeded live sand, refill with the water you removed, and you should be good to go. Treat it just like a tank move.

      I like the caribsea special grade reef sand. Just rinse it a lot. A ton of dist in the dry version.

      Can't figure out why you guys are spending so much money on MH/LED's. I have tried T5/MH and my tank now looks the best it has ever looked under VHO

    should i get 48 or 60 inch lights for my 60 inch long tank? i read keep it shorter then actually tank lights

      Same here. Shorter lights would limit some of the corals you could keep on the edges of the tank.

      I would go with the shorter. It's usually cheaper and your only losing 6" on each side which is what lens will give you. Plus it'll limit the light noise coming out of your tank.

      Yeah I'm serious. I went on a Friday once and they had the sale price on a 40g, and when I took it to the register they said it was tagged early for the weekend, and they gave it to me at that price. I asked them how often they have it, and they said every weekend. I see them on sale all the time.

      The lite it pretty complete unless you plan to control ORP and everything else possible. I'm happy with ph and temp as far as probes go. You may need another energy bar strip. If you want to control vortechs you will need a wxm.

      With the lite can you still control lights and does it have wireless?

      You need a wireless gaming adapter which you plug its ethernet into and it can connect to WiFi.

      If you want to control pumps and lights, you probably want the Apex full version. Otherwise the only other difference is an ORP port.
